Penticton Fight Camp 2026 — that’s a wrap. 🥋

Sun, sand, sweat, and a whole lot of osu.

This past weekend, the EKKC crew headed to Penticton for gruelling, high-energy training and a fantastic start to the new season.

Instructors:

A special thank-you to the Penticton Dojo for organizing such a fantastic camp, particularly Sensei Shawn Derbyshire and Senpai James Weir. Your hard work brought everyone together for challenging training, shared learning, and a strong sense of Kyokushin community.

This was the perfect way to open the new season and begin building toward the tournaments on the horizon: Banff and Toronto.

To every fighter who showed up, worked hard, and supported their training partners: proud of you. That’s Kyokushin.

Full weekend of training ahead —
kumite, conditioning, and the kind of work
that separates competitors from casual.
These guys said yes to the 10-hour drive.
Yes to sore mornings.
Yes to getting better.
That’s the Kyokushin mindset. 💪

Penticton bound. 🥋⛰️

Somewhere between Edmonton and the coast, we pulled over, stretched our legs, and the Rockies reminded us why we do this.

This crew is heading to Penticton for a fight training camp — full days of kumite, technique, and pushing past the wall that shows up around hour three. Some of these fighters are getting ready for their next tournament. Some are here to sharpen. All of them chose the hard road this weekend.

Kyokushin isn’t just what happens on the dojo floor Tuesday and Thursday nights. It’s showing up when the drive is 10+ hours, the mountains are calling, and there’s a full weekend of work waiting on the other end.

A huge OSU and heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to help clean and prep the Dojo before the new season begins.

Your time, energy, and pride in our space means everything — the dojo is looking sharp and ready to welcome students back on the mats.

We’re also excited to unveil some fresh renovations, including brand-new lighting installed by our own Andrew Pohl. Andrew, thank you for the time and craftsmanship — the space feels brighter and better than ever thanks to you.
