Today, we want to highlight one of our own, Coach Eric Motut.

While many know Eric as a dedicated coach on the field, his impact extends far beyond soccer.

In October 2025, Eric was called into action during a medical emergency at school when a student suffered a cardiac arrest during recess. Drawing on his first aid training, Eric and one other staff members helped perform life-saving CPR and administered two shocks with an AED device, which played a critical role in saving the student’s life.

Since that day, Eric has been recognized by Edmonton Catholic Schools for his heroism, acknowledged in the Alberta Legislature for his bravery, and has now received the prestigious Life-Saving Award from St. John Ambulance. He will also be formally recognized by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.

His actions demonstrate the character, leadership, and commitment to others that make him such a positive role model for the students and young athletes he works with every day.

The lessons our players learn from coaches go far beyond the game, and Eric is a powerful example of courage, selflessness, and service to others.

Please join us in recognizing Coach Eric and thanking him for the incredible difference he has made in the lives of those around him.
