Yahoo! 23 new CanSkate In Training courses spent the last 2 days of the Calgary Stampede in a cold arena in Calgary to start their coaching journey. The stampede theme continued though into the CanSkate session where Calalta Figure Skating Club CanSkaters roped calves and rode horses!

The first summer CanSkate Coach Course was held in Lloydminster in June. Lots of great learning! Thanks to the Lloydminster Skating Club’s CanSkaters for helping the new coaches put their new coaching skills to use!

Every new jump, spin, lift, or dance step asks a little more from your body than the day before. While pushing your limits is part of the journey, taking care of yourself is what keeps you on the ice.

On National Injury Prevention Day, here are a few reminders to help keep your body competition-ready:
💪 Warm up before every session.
🧘 Cool down after you skate.
🏋️ Off-ice training is just as important as on-ice training.
🩺 Don't ignore small aches—check in with a physiotherapist when needed.
💆 Recovery matters. Massage and other recovery strategies can help.
🧠 Train your mind too. Sports psychology is an important part of staying healthy and performing your best.

Your body is your greatest piece of equipment—take care of it, and it'll take care of you. ❤️

Introducing the 2026-2027 Skate AB | NT | NU Board of Directors

👏 Congratulations to Leslie Keen of Canmore Skating Club, recipient of the 2026 National Official Award!

This prestigious award recognizes an official who exemplifies Skate Canada’s values of safety, integrity, collaboration, excellence, and innovation while making a lasting contribution to the development of skating in Canada.

This season, Leslie achieved one of the highest honours in our sport when she was selected to officiate at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, serving on both the Rhythm Dance and Free Dance panels. Her selection reflects decades of expertise, dedication, and professionalism at the highest level of international competition.

Beyond her own accomplishments, Leslie is deeply committed to developing the next generation of officials. As one of our Section’s few ISU-level officials, she generously shares her knowledge, mentors aspiring officials, and leads with humility, integrity, and passion.

Thank you, Leslie, for your outstanding service to our sport and for representing Canada with excellence on the world stage. 💙⛸️

Podium Pathway skaters can now register until June 9th at 12:00pm (noon) MT

Registration for STAR categories opens on June 9th at 12:01pm MT, with a deadline of June 15 at noon MT.
