We’ve hit the midway point for our camp week and wanted to introduce more out of outstanding lineup of coaches!

Meet Arene Iyekekpolor! Arene was a part of Harry Ainlay Athletics for Grades 10 and 11 before transferring to Edge School Prep Basketball for her Grade 12 year. Since graduating Coach Arene has been crushing it in the states playing for AlcornStateU as their team captain!

Arene also has experience on Team Alberta, Jr Pandas and Alberta Basketball 3x3 earning a top 50 Canletes All-Canadian selection in 2022.

We are thrilled to have Arene’s experience and skill set in our team this week! Thanks for help to shape the next generation of hoopers, Arene!

Time for a double duty coach introduction before we hit the court together on Monday!

Coach Sam, or more affectionately known as Coach Giraffe, is back for another year at RMH! 🦒

Coach Sam is returning for her fourth year with MacEwan Griffins Women's Basketball Team after being the leading U SPORTS BASKETBALL in blocks per game during the 25-26 season. Coach Sam is a Jasper Place HS W Bball Alumni and gets to enjoy not just camp week but also all their lives with her brother, another RMH coach, Coach Owen!

Coach Owen is also returning to the RMH fam again this summer after finishing his second year with Golden Bears Basketball and is headed to MacEwan Griffins Men's Basketball Team next season to join his big sis! Remember those completions we talked about? Well back in the camper days (you know we love the camper turned coach storyline!) Coach Owen dominated winning bump, hot shot and 2 on 2! Anyone feeling up to challenging the champ next week?!

We love watching this sibling duo in action and can’t wait to laugh along with them next week. You know the drill - two more days to secure your spot!

We’re three days out from camp - how ‘bout a coach introduction?!

Kamryn Deklerk has one of our favourite stories - camper turned coach! Kam was a camper with us about a decade ago 🤯 and has just completed her Post Secondary career with University of Lethbridge WBB in Lethbridge. She is a strong athlete and leader on her team, earning the MVP title in her last season at U of L. Kamryn has a variety of experiences, playing Team Alberta for four years, winning three Div I city championships during high school and now transitioning from player to coach, joining the coaching staff at Concordia Thunder this upcoming year.

We can’t wait to have Kamryn return to the RMH family and for her to share her wisdom and skillset with our campers. If you haven’t secured your spot for next week, you still have a couple days to be one of over a hundred athletes in the gym with us. Trust us, you don’t want to miss out!

One of our favourite things about camp is watching all the friendships among campers develop. Athletes come back year after year to reconnect with their friends (and returning coaches!) As much as we focus on skills and development this week, we know that basketball should be FUN and we’re all in it for LOVE of the game!

Throughout the week, campers watch and cheer each other on as they compete in a number of competitions. From bump to one on one, an obstacle course and many more, there are lots of opportunities for campers to show off their skills and earn camp recognition and prizes!

As far as our coaches go - they’ve been practicing on the dock/in the water all year 😏
