*Sables Crowned Champions of MIDVA Gala 2026 After Perfect Weekend in Gweru* 🏐

*Gweru* — Sables Volleyball Club completed a flawless run to lift the MIDVA Gala 2026 title this past weekend, 18th & 19th July, going unbeaten through 4 matches and beating some of the Midlands’ best to be crowned champions.

Playing in front of a packed crowd in Gweru, *Sables* showed grit, depth, and championship mentality across two days of fast volleyball, cold drinks, and community — everything that makes the MIDVA Gala special.

*Sables’ Road to Glory*

*Sables* opened their campaign with a tough test against Parabhamba. After dropping the first set, the boys dug deep to rally back and take it *2-1*.

They carried that momentum into game 2 and edged past perennial contenders Black Rhinos *2-1* in another tight battle that had the crowd on their feet.

That win booked *Sables* a spot in the semi-finals, where they faced Gweru Spikers. This time *Sables* were clinical. They controlled the match from the serve line and closed it out in straight sets *2-0* to book their place in the final.

The last match of the Gala was the final: *Sables vs Gweru City*. In a thriller that went down to the wire, *Sables* held their nerve to win *2-1* and complete a perfect weekend.

*MIDVA Gala Preview: [Coach Prince] Says "Trust The Training" Ahead of Weekend Showdown*

With the MIDVA Gala set for this coming weekend, Sables Volleyball coach Prince says his squad is ready to test themselves against the best in the Midlands.

"Preparation has been solid. We’ve focused on fitness, team chemistry, and working on our serve receive," he said.
"The Gala comes early so we’re not 100% yet, but that’s the point — you test where you are and build from there. The boys have been putting in extra sessions after work and school."

On the competition, he expects a tough tournament.
"MIDVA is always deep. Teams like Rhinos, St. Collins etc are always strong, and you can never count out the university sides. But honestly we’re focused on ourselves first. If we play our volleyball, we’ll compete with anyone."

He’s also calling on fans to come out.
"Expect fast volleyball, good energy, and a lot of community. Galas are family days. Food, music, and matches running all day. Come support — the atmosphere is what makes MIDVA special."

His final message:
"To my players — trust the training, play for each other, and enjoy it. To our supporters — come out, wear your colors, and cheer us on. This Gala is for everyone who loves volleyball in the Midlands. Let’s make it a good one."
