Celebrating a legend Edmos Takawira: Empowering Youths Through Boxing.

Retired Gweru boxer Edmos Takawira is stepping up to bridge the gap in Zimbabwean boxing by establishing a local boxing academy to empower young talent in Midlands province. Driven by the desire to prevent ghetto talent from going to waste, Takawira is creating a community hub to nurture children, men, and women who love the sport, leveraging his industry experience to connect recruits to championships and matches.

Career Highlights & Stats
Career Span: Started boxing as far back as 1992 and turned professional in 2000.

Professional Record: 34 total fights (15 wins, 16 losses, and 3 draws).

Peak Ranking: Became the #1 contender for the vacant light middleweight title in 2005.

Title Fight: Contested for the light middleweight title, losing to eventual winner Mordecai Donga.

Local Legacy: Built a strong name for himself in the mining town of Gwanda before continuing his journey in Gweru.

Inspirations & Origins
Family Roots: His passion was deeply inspired by his late brother, an outstanding differently-abled (deaf) bodybuilder and karateka who set high standards despite physical barriers.

Discovery: Discovered in Kuwadzana, Harare by a local boxer named Achibu while competing in "Wafawafa"—an unsanctioned local boxing tournament.
Takawira now aims to give back to Gweru, offering aspiring fighters the training platform he wished for during his early days.
