More meetings do not always mean better teamwork. Many organisations have become excellent at talking.
1️⃣Weekly meetings.
2️⃣Daily stand-ups.
3️⃣Monthly reviews.
4️⃣Quarterly strategy sessions.
Yet the biggest workplace challenge remains the same: People still do not understand each other. Communication is not measured by how often people meet. It is measured by how clearly, they collaborate when it matters most.
Great teams do not just exchange information.
They build understanding.
What is one thing meetings could never replace?

Every organisation has one.
The employee who seems to solve everything.
The person everyone depends on.
The one who carries the team.
At first, it looks like strength.
But over time, it becomes a risk.
When one person becomes the solution to every problem, the organisation becomes vulnerable.

High-performing organisations do not build around individuals. They build systems where knowledge is shared, trust is strong, and success belongs to everyone.
Because sustainable success is not about having one superstar.

It is about creating a team where everyone can step up.
That is what resilience looks like. Is your organisation building heroes—or building teams?

Every team wants trust. But trust does not appear automatically. It is built through accountability. Accountability is not about blame. It is not about finding someone to point a finger at when things go wrong.

It is about people taking ownership of outcomes, supporting one another, and doing what they said they would do. In high-performing teams, accountability sounds like:

✔ "I will handle it."
✔ "I made a mistake."
✔ "How can I help?"
✔ "Let us fix this together."

In struggling teams, the conversation is often different:

❌ "That is not my job."
❌ "Nobody told me."
❌ "It is their fault."

The difference is not skill. It is mindset. Because when challenges arise, character is revealed through accountability. And accountability is what turns a group of individuals into a team.

In your experience, what does accountability look like in a great team?

In the workplace, we often talk about skills.
1️⃣Qualifications.
2️⃣Experience.
3️⃣Technical expertise.
But when we look at the people who earn trust, inspire teams, and lead effectively, something else stands out.
✅Character.
✅Taking responsibility when things go wrong.
✅Keeping their word.
✅Respecting others.
✅Showing resilience when challenges arise.
✅Putting the team's success above personal recognition.

These qualities don't appear on a certificate. Yet they are often the difference between a good employee and a great teammate.

For many of us, these values were shaped long before we entered the workplace—through the influence of parents, grandparents, mentors, coaches, teachers, and other role models who showed us what integrity, accountability, and perseverance look like.

In a world that celebrates skills, perhaps we should spend more time talking about character. Because skills help us do the job. Character influences how we do it.
And when pressure rises, it is character that often determines whether teams pull together or pull apart.

💬 What is one value you learned from a role model that still influences how you work today?

Leadership is not about getting people to follow instructions.
It is about helping people understand where they're going and why it matters.
When teams understand the destination:
1️⃣They make better decisions.
2️⃣They collaborate more effectively.
3️⃣They take ownership.
And they become more resilient when challenges arise. People do not just need tasks. They need direction. Because the most powerful teams are united not by position or title, but by purpose.
What is the most important quality of a leader during times of change?

Is your team sailing to success or sinking alone?

Many workplace challenges do not arise because people lack talent. They arise because people stop rowing together.
☝️One department is focused on targets.
☝️Another is focused on compliance.
☝️Another is putting out fires.
☝️Everyone is working hard.

Yet somehow progress feels slower than it should. Why?
Because organisational success is rarely a talent problem. It's an alignment problem. When a ship encounters rough waters, nobody asks:
"Is this my responsibility?"

Everyone understands that reaching the destination depends on collective effort.
The same is true in the workplace. The most resilient organisations are not those with the smartest individuals. They are the ones where people understand the mission, trust each other, communicate openly, and take shared responsibility for outcomes.

The question for leaders is not:
"Are our people busy?"
The question is: "Are our people moving in the same direction?"
Because when everyone rows together, even rough waters become navigable.

💬 What do you think is the biggest barrier to getting teams aligned around a common goal?

11/06/2026

Many organisations believe they have teamwork because people work in the same building. But proximity is not teamwork.
A true team shares:
✔ A common purpose
✔ Shared accountability
✔ Mutual trust
✔ Open communication

Without these, people may work alongside each other for years without ever truly working together. The strongest teams are not those with the most talent.

They are the ones that understand how to combine individual strengths into collective success.
What does teamwork mean to you?

One of the most expensive words in business is:

"That is not my department."

When teams stop seeing the bigger picture, silos begin to form. Information gets trapped. Problems take longer to solve. Customers receive inconsistent experiences. And opportunities slip through the cracks.

Great organisations understand that success rarely comes from one department.
It comes from many people working together toward one goal. Because progress happens faster when people stop protecting territory and start sharing responsibility.

💬 What is the biggest barrier to collaboration in today's workplace?

04/06/2026

Most companies do not fail because they lack talent. They fail because talented people are pulling in different directions.

1️⃣The Finance team is chasing one target.

2️⃣Operations is focused on another.

3️⃣Sales is under pressure to hit numbers.

4️⃣Leadership is driving a different agenda.

Everyone is busy. But are they moving in the same direction? A company doesn't need everyone doing the same thing. It needs everyone moving toward the same destination.

Because when alignment is missing, even hard work can feel like running in circles.

💬 In your experience, what is the biggest cause of misalignment in organisations?

The conversation does not end today!!

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, it's worth remembering that wellbeing is not a monthly campaign.

💡It is a daily practice.

1️⃣It is in the manager who notices when someone is struggling.

2️⃣It is in the colleague who takes time to listen.

3️⃣It is in the team that creates space for people to speak honestly without fear of judgment.

Over the past month, we have talked about psychological safety, burnout, workplace connection, supportive leadership, and the importance of checking in on one another.

But awareness is only the beginning. The real challenge is what happens next.
Will we continue asking, "How are you?" and genuinely listen to the answer?
Will we create workplaces where people feel safe to speak up, make mistakes, ask for help, and bring their whole selves to work?

Because healthy workplaces are not built by policies alone.

They are built by people. One conversation. One act of kindness.
One supportive team at a time. As we close Mental Health Awareness Month, let's not close the conversation💚. #
