Human versus horse
The Human versus Horse Race idea is from an iconic annual endurance race held in Wales. Pitting human runners against riders on horseback. The race has only been won by a human twice in its history.
The Endurance Committee decided to try something similar here at our event. The runners ran 20km. It was very successful! The runners did beat the 20km riders! Well done!
Endurance riding is a competition, to test the athlete’s ability to safely manage the stamina and fitness of the horse, over an endurance course, navigating the distance and terrain without compromising the welfare of the horse.

ZOC Athletes Forum | Bulawayo
The Zimbabwe Equestrian Federation President, Mr. Daren Wilmans, recently attended the Athletes Forum hosted by the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee in Bulawayo.
The forum brought together athletes, administrators, and sports leaders to discuss key topics including contract negotiation and career development, anti-doping education, personal branding, athlete welfare, and regional collaboration.
The event provided an important platform for athletes to engage with issues that impact both their sporting careers and their lives beyond competition. Discussions also highlighted the role of Athletes’ Commissions in protecting athletes’ rights and ensuring their voices are represented.
Together, we continue to empower Zimbabwe’s sporting community, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and opportunities for future success.
