They say a picture tells a thousand words! Without our steady-hand cameraman this past weekend, we have a few thousand words missing.

After our practice at Alexandra Sports Club - Harare, Zimbabwe, we headed over to The Hill Preparatory School for cricket and soccer training where we had a great time on first day!

This week our age group training is harmonised again starting at 7.45am and finishing at 10.15 for all age-groups! By the way, we have midweek practice every Tuesday at 2pm at Harare Sports Club.

Yesterday we were fortunate to have Zimbabwe Cricket National Academy opener Takudzwa Nyamugure help the kids with their batting from U9 upwards.

We did our first weekly assessments for the Falcons U9 Leadership Programme after our U9 training - what a fun experience reviewing all the crafts they made at home during the week!

We entered week 2 of our practice for the Mavericks U13 Cricket Tournament where all our U11 and U13 teams will be competing.

So happy to see U11 left-arm medium pacer Obryan trekking back to us after a year's absence from training. He came back with his little brother Odell and everyone was so excited to see them!

Three groups of average-ability U9s participated in batting drills while the relative newbies took part in fielding drills. Assessments for the U9 Leadership Programme also began on Saturday. This is a comprehensive leadership course for 4 to 8-year olds that shape a complete international cricket from an early age.

U11 and U13 continued with the 2nd week of preparations for the Mavericks Cricket U13 Tournament in November with peak performance drills at the side netting.

SIDE NOTE: Our classic grey hooded jackets (hoodies) were all the rage this past weekend😌😎😅 - they were serving heat 🔥🔥🔥 literally 🥵😅😅

Yesterday we reverted to our group-oriented training times in order to manage and maintain our low coach to student ratio. This means that our U9 start at 7.45am and finish at 9.15am and U11-17 begin at 9.30 and finish at 11.30am on Saturdays. All groups train at 2.15pm on Tuesdays.

We were excited to welcome to our flocks two U9 kids and one U13 girl!

Our primary focus for the next couple of months is to address major issues identified in our games in the last one and a half months as part of the Corrective Action Roadmap drawn up by our coaches.

With the U9 League around the corner and the Mavericks Cricket U13 Cricket Tournament 2026 penciled in for November, our work is cut out for us.
