📌 Tournament Alert: ZLGU Stroke Play Championship 🏆📌

We're excited to host the Zimbabwe Ladies' Golf Union - ZLGU Stroke Play Championship this Friday through Sunday (Sept 4–6).

With a packed field of 120 players, member tee-times will be LIMITED, but we’re securing preferential rates at other clubs to keep you playing. Come down over the weekend to enjoy top-tier golf and support our Brooke ladies in action! 💚👏

📌 COURSE IMPROVEMENTS UPDATE⛳️📌

We’re excited to share some photos of the latest progress on our Course Improvements Programme.

As you’ll see, we’ve started one of our biggest changes yet: *flattening our fairways*. We know the GUR can be disruptive, but whenever you find yourself on a freshly worked area, remember all those times you hit a great drive only to find your ball sitting on the side of a mogul, making the second shot a nightmare! 😅

If that doesn’t help, just think of it as some *anticipated Greenkeeper’s Revenge*. 😂

The work on the *8th and 11th tee boxes* has also gone extremely well, with the new, flat tee boxes ready for play very shortly.

The photos show work on the *7th, 9th and 18th fairways*, with *17th to follow soon*.

We encourage everyone to come out and see the work for yourselves. There may be some temporary disruption, but the improvements will be well worth it!

MASTER OF CAMOUFLAGE 🌙🌿 Blending right into the trees during the day, the Spotted Eagle-Owl is our stealthiest night-shift worker. Keep your eyes peeled right around sunset as they head out to hunt, easily recognized by their prominent feathered “ear” tufts.

📌 GIVING BACK 📌 Ever wonder where all those forgotten hats, gloves, and clubs left behind at the clubhouse actually end up? 🤔

Back in 2025, some of our Brooke staff and resident coaches packed up those unclaimed items and headed straight to Tafara 1 High School in Harare to share the fundamentals of the game and spark some excitement. (𝐹𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑓𝑒𝑤 𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑠 = 𝑠𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑜𝑙 𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑡)

Fast forward less than a year later, and 23 new golfers from Tafara 1 - including 5 girls - participated in the inaugural President's Cup Junior Champions at Police Golf Club. ⛳️ A lot of learnings were had and competing alongside 100 young players gave them incredible tournament exposure. (𝐿𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑤𝑜 𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑠 = 𝑡𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑎𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡)

It marks a truly promising chapter for making the game of golf accessible to all communities.🤝🇿🇼

Fun on the Fairways! ⛳️🎉 Bring the kids down to connect, play, and learn! Coach Julias is hosting a fantastic holiday clinic packed with fun games and engaging drills. In small, friendly groups of 1–8, children will enjoy learning the game, making friends, and having a wonderful time out on the greens.

📌 Enhancing Playability: The Next Chapter for Borrowdale Brooke Golf!🤩 📌

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS & MEMBERS: We are consulting legendary course designer Peter Matkovich to upgrade and restore our course, bringing his original vision to life to maximize RISK, REWARD, and PLAYABILITY. 👌

• 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 & 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Expanding greens back to their original size and swapping Kikuyu fringes for Bent Grass.
• 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐲 & 𝐓𝐞𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: Staggered levelling work to smooth out uneven areas while keeping half the course fully playable at all times.
• 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: Modernizing bunker placement and lining in-play dams for better aesthetics and performance.
