MULEYA CHOOLWE INTERRED

100s of Macha residents turned up for the burial of late Muleya Choolwe who died in Solwezi on 21st August 2026 following a short illness.

The body of the late player was delivered at Lupata Village, in Macha for burial by Zambia Police Delegation Leader, North Western Province Police Staff Officer, Superintendent Chikoti Charity and was accompanied by Dove Queens FC GS, Shipili Gabriel among other EXCO and Technical Bench Officials that included Team Captain, Constable Nalengo Prisca.

Dove Queens FC wishes to thank the Zambia Police Service Command, Football Association of Zambia, FRECA Mining and all individuals that supported the funeral procession throughout.

We continue mourning with the family of late Choolwe Muleya and the football fraternity.

The late Choolwe Muleya will be buried in her hometown of Macha, Choma District, on Sunday, 23rd August 2026.

Her remains were seen off by Senior Superintendent Richard Chilende of the Zambia Police, FAZ North-Western Province Youth Representative Zephaniah Mwanza, and Dove Queens FC players and officials led by Club President Mr. Morgan Makuya.

Zambia Police Provincial Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Muwowo led in preaching the word of God.

DOVE QUEENS FC MOURNS THE PASSING OF CHOOLWE MULEYA

20th August, 2026 - Solwezi. Dove Queens FC is deeply saddened to announce the passing on of Choolwe Muleya.

The 24-year-old passed away in Solwezi on the morning of 20th August 2026 while on trials with Doves Queens FC after being with the club since July 23, 2026. She came with the hope of joining our team from Macha Queens, her parent club.

Muleya became unwell in the morning and was taken to Solwezi Urban Clinic, where she was pronounced dead around 07:00 hours. Her body has been taken to Solwezi General Hospital mortuary. Muleya trained normally on Tuesday afternoon and showed no signs of illness.

We are suddened to mourn Choolwe in this manner, especially given the exploit she showed during training with us. This is a painful loss to the football fraternity in general.

We have lost a talented player with a bright future ahead of her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones and those who are touched by her death.

CHISHALA MUFUNTE DONATES JERSEYS TO DOVE QUEENS FC IN APPRECIATION OF CAREER SUPPORT.

Solwezi, Zambia – August 19, 2026 – Former Dove Queens FC player and current Zambia Women’s National Team goalkeeper Chishala Mwila Mufunte has expressed gratitude to the Zambia Police Service for its role in her football development with a donation of a full set of jerseys to Dove Queens FC.

Mufunte, who currently plays for Green Buffaloes WFC, credited the Police for supporting her transition from striker to goalkeeper. Her journey began after she was spotted at Dove Queens FC by U17 National Team Coach, then Halubono Charles and made as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Zambia U17 Women’s National Team, followed by the U20 side, and she is now a senior national team player. She was part of the Zambia squad that competed at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Speaking in Solwezi during the handover to North Western Province Police Commanding Officer, Commissioner of Police Brighton Siwale, Mufunte said the donation was a gesture of appreciation.

“I wanted to thank the Zambia Police for the foundation they gave me in my football career. I hope this small contribution will encourage and support more girls to reach greater heights,” Mufunte said.

In receiving the donation, Commissioner Siwale commended Mufunte for remembering her roots and acknowledged her continued impact on young players.

“As the Police Command, we remain committed to supporting women’s football in Solwezi and beyond through continued sponsorship of the team. We are proud that after Chishala, we continue to produce national team players, with Bukata Kakumbi now following in her footsteps as first-choice goalkeeper for the Zambia U17 Women’s National Team that qualified for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. I urge you to remain disciplined, as that is key to progressing in your career,” Mr. Siwale said.

The jerseys were received in the presence of Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer SACP Nkowani Steven Divisional Police Intelligence Officer ACP Machenje, Solwezi District Deputy Officer Commanding S/Supt Tedious Mupeta, and Divisional Staff Officer Supt Charity Chikoti.

Mufunte was presented to the Police Command by Dove Queens FC General Secretary Gabriel Shipili, accompanied by Head Coach Renard Mulako and team captains Constable Prisca Nalengo and Edah Lungu.
