NKWAZI JUDO CLUB FINISHES RUNNERS-UP AT JAPANESE AMBASSADOR’S JUDO CUP 2026

Nkwazi Judo Club has finished runners-up at the Japanese Ambassador’s Judo Cup 2026, held on 29th and 30th August 2026.

The club delivered an outstanding performance, securing:

🥇 12 Gold Medals
🥈 6 Silver Medals
🥉 0 Bronze Medals
🏅 18 Medals in Total

Nkwazi’s impressive medal haul placed the club second overall on the final medal table, behind Green Buffaloes Judo Club (GBJC), who claimed the overall top position.

The achievement is a reflection of the hard work, discipline, determination and commitment demonstrated by Nkwazi’s judokas and coaching team throughout the competition.

The 2026 edition of the Japanese Ambassador’s Judo Cup provided another opportunity for Nkwazi athletes to test themselves against some of the country’s strongest competitors, and the team responded with performances that continue to establish Nkwazi as a force in Zambian judo.

The club extends its appreciation to its athletes, coaches, officials, supporters and the police command for their continued contribution to Nkwazi’s success.

The latest round of the Musa Biscuits National Judo League and Teulings Youth Challenge was held today, with clubs battling for valuable points across the competitions.

Nkwazi Judo Club is proud to announce that three of our outstanding judokas will represent Team Zambia at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland. Judo competition will take place from 31 July to 2 August 2026.

🥋 Andrew Sande – Men’s -90kg

The team is led by Sensei Punza Mathews, whose dedication and leadership continue to inspire excellence within the club.
