Nic Groom | Wynberg Boys’ High School - Director of Rugby

It is with both gratitude and regret that we share the news that our Director of Rugby, Nic Groom, will be leaving us at the conclusion of the 2026 rugby season.

Since joining the school, Nic has made an enormous contribution to Wynberg Rugby through his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the boys. His influence has been felt across all age groups, and his passion for coaching and player development has helped shape the rugby journeys of countless young men at Wynberg.

While we are sad to see him leave, we fully support Nic's decision to pursue an exciting new opportunity in the private sector. Fortunately, this is not a complete farewell as Nic will be taking up the role as Head of Partnerships at Sygnia, and we are pleased that his connection to Wynberg will remain strong. Given the relationships he has built within our community over many years, we have no doubt that we will continue to see him around the school and involved with Wynberg in various capacities in the future.

At the same time, we recognise that change is a natural part of any successful programme. While one chapter of Wynberg Rugby comes to an end, another begins, and we look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. The process of appointing our next Director of Rugby will commence shortly, with the position being advertised over the coming weeks. We are confident that the strong foundations in place, together with the commitment of our coaches, players, and wider rugby community, will ensure that Wynberg Rugby continues to go from strength to strength.

All of us at Wynberg are deeply grateful for everything Nic has done for the school and the rugby programme, and we look forward to celebrating his contribution appropriately during the remainder of the season.

We wish Nic every success in this next chapter of his career and thank him for the significant role he has played in the continued growth and success of Wynberg Rugby.
