Sometimes hunting is looking at other things too and it really helps being with an expert in the bush
This is a Golden Orb Web spider and they build these massive golden webs that are capable of catching small birds and rodents which span several square feet. The bright Aposematic (warning colours) make them able to walk about on their webs freely during the day.
They are venomous and their bite is very painful(Yes I can bear testament) but it is not Harmful to humans.
This one was disturbed with a passing truck and I just helped the little fella to safety - although not common in the dry season they proliferate in the wet season with the abundance of insects and other food organisms.
This is a female and the males are about 1/10th of the size and live on the other-side of the web - they become part of the food chain after courtship…
