Fourways Martial Arts Academy is incredibly proud to see Alessandro Biagioni, Justin Baynes, Reece Baynes and John Pieters selected to represent South Africa at the African Championships in Algeria 2026. 🇩🇿
This journey is about far more than medals. It is about the early mornings, late nights, discipline, sacrifice, setbacks, determination and countless hours of training that have brought these athletes to this moment.
To wear the Protea colours is an honour that comes with great responsibility. You are not only representing yourselves — you are representing your families, your coaches, your dojo, Gauteng and our beautiful country. 🇿🇦
Believe in your preparation. Trust in your training. Fight with courage. Compete with honour.
Whatever the outcome, remember that you have already achieved something special by earning the right to stand on that international tatami and proudly say:

Hey everyone!
I’m excited to share some fantastic news with you! On Saturday, 20th June 2026, at Redhill School, Ismaa hosted an incredible championship to celebrate the spirit of Goju Ryu Karate and its dojos. Fifteen dojos affiliated with Ismaa, led by our inspiring Chief Instructor Hanshi Arnold De Beer, hosted 120 students aged from 5 to 60 years old. This amazing competition brought together all our dojos from Gauteng.
The tournament was a tremendous success, thanks to meticulous organisation and the support of many qualified referees. A heartfelt congratulations to our referees and table officials for dedicating their time and energy to make this event memorable! A special thanks to Sensei Roberta, who served as Ismaa's Chief Referee for the day.
This occasion also honoured Alessandro Biagioni who was recognised by Ismaa for his selection as captain of the Protea team at the recent UFAK Region South Championship in Angola.
Our very own 4Ways Dojo truly excelled at the championship, bringing home a remarkable collection of medals. The best part? Our students had an unforgettable time and embraced every moment of the event.
Let’s also express our gratitude to the wonderful parents who showed unwavering support for the championship. With such an amazing turnout, we eagerly anticipate an even bigger and better event in the future!
Check out the attached photo to see our fantastic students from Fourways Martial Arts Academy.
Exciting times are ahead! Can’t wait for the next one!

Three dedicated athletes from 4Ways Dojo were chosen to represent the UFAK Region South at the prestigious championships held in Luanda, Angola, from 14 to 16 May 2026.
UFAK Region South had representatives from seven countries, with over 300 entries: Angola, 🇦🇴 South Africa, 🇿🇦 Botswana, 🇧🇼 Zimbabwe, 🇿🇼 Mozambique, 🇲🇿 Zambia, 🇿🇲 and Namibia.🇳🇦
A huge round of applause for 4Ways Dojo!
All three athletes delivered outstanding performances, bringing home a total of four medals: one gold🥇, one silver🥈, and two bronzes🥉.
Alessandro, Kelan, and Xavian have filled us with pride, representing both their country and dojo with distinction. Alessandro reached the final of his first senior kata and earned a silver medal. He was also selected to represent the South African 5-Man Team, which is arguably one of the most prestigious events an athlete can be chosen for, competing against the best from other countries, and the team clinched a bronze medal. Kelan captured his first international gold in the 12-13 years Kumite division, while Xavian secured his first bronze in the 10-11 years Kumite division. Their achievements are a cause for celebration for us all.
Results of the Fourways Dojo Medal Winners:
🥋Alessandro – 🥈Snr Kata 🥉Bronze Team Kumite (Protea)
🥋Kelan – 🥇Children Kumite (Protea)
🥋Xavian – 🥉 Children Kumite (Protea)
Finally, a heartfelt congratulations to Xavian Walters for earning his Protea Colours for the very first time.
A special congratulations to Alessandro Biagioni on his first time competing as a senior, being chosen as Team Captain, and making his debut for South Africa with the Protea team in individual kata in Angola.
A huge thank you to all the KSA coaches and managers for your unwavering support and for making our young champions feel truly celebrated in their accomplishments. 💪🏆🇿🇦
