Dance is more than movement.

It connects us to our bodies, our creativity, and one another. It gives us space to express, explore, learn, and grow.

As Jacques d’Amboise reminds us:

“Dance is your pulse, your heartbeat, your breathing. It’s the rhythm of your life.”

At NDEO, we believe in the power of dance education to shape not only dancers, but thoughtful, creative, and connected people.

✨ How has dance shaped the rhythm of your life?

Some valuable tips from Deborah Engelman.....
As we enter into new adventures and new beginnings this competition term, please remember to consider LONGEVITY as you dance!

Whether you dance (or want to dance) professionally or want to keep dance in your life as a personal passion, I want you to be able to do it for a long time!

Here are some tips:

1. Always warm up before dancing full out and before stretching!
2. Stretch to a point of mild to moderate, not extreme, discomfort—not pain and breathe there for 30-45 seconds.
3. If you are injured, do not dance through extreme pain. Follow the advice of medical professionals who have experience with dancers. Modify your movement in a way that protects your injured part.
4. Jump on two feet before jumping on one foot.
5. Drink lots of water.
6. Take occasional short breaks from dancing! Allow your mind and body to recover and replenish!

Pushing yourself is necessary for continued progress. But pushing yourself beyond safety will shorten your dance career!
