What an incredible privilege for Ruiter Wrestling Club to have four of our young athletes representing South Africa at the 2026 IMMAF Youth World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE!

🇿🇦🏆 TEAM RUITER IS MAKING YOUTH OLYMPIC HISTORY! 🏆🇿🇦

Saterday, during the South African National Wrestling Championships, it was officially announced by the President of the South African Wrestling Federation, Sakkie Bosse, that two of our very own Team Ruiter members have been selected to represent South Africa at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal!

This father-and-daughter duo will proudly make history as the first father-and-daughter combination in South African wrestling to attend a Youth Olympic Games together!

This is an incredibly proud and special moment for the entire Ruiter Wrestling Club family. It is the result of years of commitment, sacrifices, early mornings, late nights, difficult challenges and countless hours of preparation on the wrestling mat.

For Duné and Coach Dean, this is a lifelong dream becoming a reality, but the dream does not end with selection.

Duné will travel to Dakar with an even bigger dream to make history by becoming the first South African wrestler to win a Youth Olympic gold medal! 🥇🇿🇦

Team Ruiter is extremely proud of this remarkable father-and-daughter journey. From training together at our club to representing our country together on one of the biggest youth sporting stages in the world, this is what dreams, faith and hard work are all about!

🇿🇦🏆 NATIONALS COMPLETE — COMMONWEALTH DREAMS ALIVE! 🤼‍♂️

Yesterday, our Ruiter Wrestling Club athletes competed at the 2026 U17, U20, Senior and Masters Freestyle National Championships.

These championships were about far more than national medals, as they also served as a qualification round for the 2026 Commonwealth Championships, taking place later this year in Cape Town.

The top two wrestlers in each division secure positions in the Commonwealth Team and the opportunity to represent South Africa on the international stage. 🇿🇦

We are extremely proud to announce that Ruiter Wrestling Club produced SIX SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONS, including THREE BRAND-NEW SA CHAMPIONS! 🥇🏆

This proves that Ruiter Wrestling Club continues to grow with every wrestling season. New blood continues to come through our system, while our club continues to develop and deliver champions — just as we have done since 1962.

We are incredibly proud of every wrestler who formed part of this journey and represented Ruiter Wrestling Club and Central Gauteng.

The preparation, commitment, sacrifices and hard work leading up to these championships were unbelievable. Some dreams were achieved, while others are still being fought for.

Our injured wrestlers’ journeys are not over. Once they have recovered, they will have the opportunity to challenge for their Commonwealth Team positions at a later stage.

Medal or no medal, every wrestler contributed to the team, showed courage and represented our club with pride.

Now we recover, learn and continue working — because the mission is not finished yet!
