Athletic potential is built on how precisely you move.

When your hips are fluid and your core acts as a stable power centre, force travels efficiently through your body. You don't just move faster or hit harder; you move with sustainable authority.

In our private studio, we apply the precision of Jacqui Pilates Method and STOTT PILATES® to meet the specific demands of your body, sport, and schedule.

One of our competitive clients recently shared: "Her classes are meticulously tailored to address specific needs, fostering the enhancement of core strength and hip flexibility... I have become more competitive in my sport due to Pilates."

You don't need more random intensity. You need targeted, intelligent conditioning that gives you the edge.

The shoulder blades are faithful things.

When life gets heavy, they respond. They rise. They brace. They guard — doing exactly what the body has asked them to do under pressure, season after season, year after year.

In STOTT Pilates, we work with the scapula with precision and care — because it has two jobs that are easily confused. It needs to be stable enough to support the arm. And mobile enough to move freely with the rib cage.

Stress tends to take both away at once — leaving the shoulder blades locked, lifted, and a long way from home.

We work gently with the muscles that bring them back. And when they finally settle, the feeling is almost always the same: Something has been put down.

Notice where your shoulders are right now.

Not where you think they are. Where they actually are.

For many of us, especially those carrying a heavy week, a demanding job, or a body that has learned to brace against the world — the answer is somewhere higher than it should be. Slightly forward. Slightly braced. The shoulder blades lifted away from the rib cage in a posture that the body adopted, quietly and gradually, as a way of managing what life was asking of it.

This is one of the most visible physical signatures of chronic stress. Not an injury. Not a weakness. Simply the body guarding — and the shoulder blades, with extraordinary loyalty, joining in.

In STOTT Pilates, scapular movement and stabilisation is its own dedicated principle. We work with the shoulder blades with unusual precision — because the scapula has two distinct jobs, and both matter enormously.

It needs to be stable: a firm, settled platform from which the arm can move safely and powerfully. And it needs to be mobile: free to glide, rotate, and travel with the rib cage as the body reaches, lifts, and turns.

What stress tends to do is lock the scapula into an elevated, protracted position — neither truly stable nor truly free. Just held. And held. And held.

In STOTT, we work with the lower trapezius and serratus anterior — the muscles that draw the shoulder blade down and anchor it gently against the rib cage. Not to force the shoulders down, but to invite them to find where they actually belong.

And for many people, that moment — when the shoulder blades finally settle — feels like putting something down they didn't know they were carrying.

The mid-back holds more than most people realise.

It holds the posture of long hours. The shape of a sport played with the same arm, the same side, season after season. The closed-in quality the body takes on when life feels heavy and the chest draws inward without anyone deciding it should.

In STOTT Pilates, rib cage placement is its own principle — because the thoracic spine has its own story, separate from the pelvis, separate from the neck.

We don't force it open. We simply create the conditions for it to remember what neutral feels like.

And from there, something in the whole upper body begins to soften.

🛠️ Does your mid-back feel stiff, your shoulders heavy, your breath a little shallow?

Could the part of your body you think about least be shaping everything around it most?

The thoracic spine. The mid-back. It sits quietly between the neck and the lower back — two places that tend to announce themselves loudly when something is wrong. And so the middle is often overlooked. Adapted around. Quietly stiffening in the background while everything above and below it continues to compensate.

Rounded shoulders. A stiff mid-back. Lower ribs that flare slightly forward when we breathe or reach. These aren't random patterns. They are the thoracic region doing what it has always done under sustained load — trading mobility for stability. Closing down to protect what it carries.

Years of desk work encourage it. So does driving. So does sport — the asymmetry of a swing, a throw, a stroke repeated thousands of times on one side. And so does the posture the body adopts when it is tired, or overwhelmed, or simply trying to get through the day.

In STOTT Pilates, rib cage placement is treated as its own principle — separate from pelvic placement, separate from the breath. Because the thoracic spine has its own story, and that story deserves to be heard on its own terms.

We work with the rib cage — not to force it open, not to flatten it down, but to help it find its neutral relationship with the spine beneath it. From there, the shoulders have somewhere to rest. The breath has room to travel. The mid-back, often held rigid for years, begins — slowly, gently — to remember what movement feels like.

This is Vicky's story. And it's one we are incredibly proud to share. 🌸

After a broken hip and the debilitating muscle loss that followed prolonged bed rest, Vicky returned to Pilates looking for more than recovery — she was looking to feel whole again.

Using a carefully designed Jacqui Pilates Method and a STOTT Pilates recovery strategy, we worked with her body to restore her entire relationship with movement. Restoring mobility, rebuilding tone and flexibility, and awakening a structure that had been still for far too long.

At Pilates by Jacqui, we believe recovery is just the beginning.

"I am now fitter and have better core strength than before my accident."

This is what happens when movement is taught with a purposeful, and heart-focused intention.
