The Wits Flume Pool is operational and heating up. Standing currently at 23.5 degrees Celsius. Heating up at a rate of 1.5 degrees per day. Set for 30 degrees.

Setting up the EZ50 water purifier took a bit of head scratching but with the help of EP technical staff, we got the girl purring like a cat.

Now it's a case of monitoring the water for the next week until handover.

The last 48 hours has been a blur. Due to circumstances beyond our control and a looming commissioning deadline, the team decided to tackle the coping installation through the night.

What greeted us on our arrival at 6pm was a full team of tilers at work in our flume room. This ended causing a 2.5-hour delay to our all-nighter, as we had to wash off the pool cover, use a blower to get rid of all the debris on the auto-cover motor and rails and sweep the decking. before we could start.

All this in the hope of having the pool ready for a test run by Thursday afternoon. Only to be delayed, once again with a power supply issue.

Commissioning postponed to Monday. One day left to get it right. No pressure 😎

Preparing for an all-night installation session once the tilers are done...

Today was again a stop and start affair with intermittent power and water supply issues on site.

But the main objectives were achieved i.e. siding framework installed to support the coping, which we start with tomorrow morning.

Then one for the case for read-the-manual, we failed to notice that the treadmill mirror could have been stalled when the water level was 150mm. Polar plunge #1 🐻‍❄️to fixed 4 tiny screws.

Polar plunge #2 🐻‍❄️came when I realised that the skimmer tower, installed yesterday, need only be installed once the thru-wall suction plumb has been installed.

Two more polar plunges tomorrow and then we are done with wet work.
Ps, Todays weather. 5deg Celsius max, rain and sleet with 25km/ made the Polar Plunge even more memorable.🐻‍❄️🐻‍❄️

Another day spent in the water but not for too long this time. The commercial skimmer had to be assembled while we patiently waited for the water to reach close enough to each thru-hole openings before doing the thru-wall fitments.

Never one to waste time, we carried on installing the comms lines between the Geckos. Sorted out the jumper on Gecko2 and the Fit@Home comms line between the Hydraulic pumps, the Fit@Home Wi-Fi chip. And the finally bonding all the motorised components to the primary Gecko

Tomorrow, we finish up the thru-wall fittings, glue in plumbing to plant room from pool and fill the pool to capacity.

Be Blessed

After spending several hours in the water today and interspersed trips to the tiled balcony to warm our frigid feet, we managed to get the return channels system installed.

We have turned the corner on this installation and heading down the final straight.

On Monday I tackle the thru-wall connections for the hydraulic lines and complete final plumbing link between plant room and pool.

Yesterday was almost a complete wash out, as the site electricians were busy connecting the complex to the main power grid. Therefore, no power, and no water to start with the internals channel system.

We did manage to install some small items that didn't need any power except some cordless power tools.

Today was slightly better, as we got power after 9am and we could start with haste. Bar every conceivable delay in the book, we managed to get the front bench assembly in place by 6pm.

Need I say the water was frigid and after 9 hours in the water, trying to put on shoes with shivering hands becomes a challenge 😆

More pics to follow tomorrow with the return channels system completed and hydraulic lines in place.

Today we moved onto the Flume Room. The pool had to be unpacked and interior vacuumed. Then shoes off and fun times hanging the commercial liner.

The 2nd toughest part was getting the centre seam of the 60mil liner to hang, followed the toughest part...inserting the liner lock bead over that very seam.

But compliments to Endless Pools for manufacturing a perfect fitting liner. Tonight the liner rests to stretch and settle in place ready for a big day tomorrow when start with the installation of the pool's internal structure.

The epoxy coat was finally poured last week Thursday and left till Monday to cure. Finally, the plant room floor done and we could start with the lay out. This took days. Day one being the dry fit of the plumbing and consulting Endless Pools technical department.

After some sound advice, a few changes were made today and as they say... Viola!! Plumbing glued in with just one connection from the chemical feeder loop to the pool inlet still outstanding.

Tomorrow, we unpack everything from the pool that has served as temporary storage area for all the equipment and hang the commercial liner.

Week 27/7 - 31/7

After almost two weeks of waiting for plant room floor to be poured and cured, we finally got access to the flume room to continue with installation process. However, the epoxy coating for plant room was still outstanding, thus another two days of installation time lost.

This week will be full installation mode, as hand-over is dated for 11 August.
