Today I was taken back to a memory lane. I visited and support one of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision sites in Pretoria.

This is where my love and passion for male reproductive health was developed. I spent my entire 8 years in this facility as Counselor Team Leader under Right to Care South Africa. Was so emotional to get into my previous Counselling space.

This was after my first love for VMCC was born at Bophelo Pele Male Circumcision Centre at Orange Farm where I spend my 4 years. This is where all its started in 2008 after our very own its kind and successful Randomized Control Trail Research for VMMCC in South Africa which was endroised by World Health Organisation and National Department of Health of South Africa. Prof Dirk Taljaard and Dr Dino Rech we salute working under your leadership was amazing. I know Department of Health National still owes you recognition that is is my view.

Its been 12 years in this space and my advocacy for Men's Health is growing everyday. Sisuka kude sisalibangise kude๐Ÿฅฐ

June is Menโ€™s Mental Health Awareness Month and today we shine a light on a reality that often goes unseen: depression in men.

Many men are taught from a young age to be strong, to push through pain and to keep their emotions hidden. As a result, depression in men does not always look like sadness or tears. It can show up as anger, irritability, withdrawal from loved ones, exhaustion, substance use, risky behavior, loss of interest in activities or simply feeling numb and disconnected from life.

The pressure to provide, protect and carry responsibilities can become overwhelming. Yet many men suffer in silence because they fear being judged, appearing weak or becoming a burden to others. The truth is that seeking help is not a sign of weakness: it is an act of courage and strength. No one should have to fight their battles alone.

This Menโ€™s Mental Health Awareness Month, letโ€™s encourage the men in our lives to talk, to rest, to seek support and to prioritize their wellbeing. A simple โ€œHow are you really doing?โ€ could open the door to a life-changing conversation, ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ด๐—ผ ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—น๐—ฎ ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ถ ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ...

๐Ÿ’™ To every man reading this: Your feelings are valid. Your struggles matter. Your mental health matters. You are worthy of support, healing and hope.

If you or someone you know is struggling with depression, reach out for support. You do not have to go through it alone. ๐Ÿ’™

Men - Speak out and release your emotions๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š

Donโ€™t bottle it up. Silence isnโ€™t strength. Stress, sadness, numbness - those are signs, not weakness. Speak out. Cry if you must. Talk to a brother, friend, your loved ones , or a professional Coach. Your mental + emotional health matters. Seeking help is courage, not failure. Youโ€™re not alone. Thereโ€™s healing, and strength is in your healing. Take care of your mental health.

Menโ€™s Mental Health Month ๐Ÿง

Strength is not just about pushing through. It is also about knowing when to talk, when to ask for support, and when to prioritise your wellbeing.

This Menโ€™s Mental Health Month, letโ€™s encourage open conversations, break the stigma, and remind men that taking care of their mental health is just as important as taking care of their physical health.

A conversation can make a difference. Support can change a life.
