THIS WEEK ON KASISPORTS FOUNDATION

Another week, another collection of inspiring sporting journeys from across South Africa!

We started the week with Moota Matlala from Mokopane, Limpopo, who is finding strength and hope through her passion for netball.

We then met Sarah Makhobolo from Bramley, Gauteng, who is chasing greatness in middle-distance running and working towards achieving her athletic dreams.

From there, we crossed to Botshabelo in the Free State and met Bokang Thapong, a young athlete whose journey is driven by determination, hard work and a strong belief in his potential.

We also came across Lebohang Matube from Botshabelo, Free State - an athletics fighter with a lion's heart, AKA “Posti.”

We closed the week with Homolemo Mandosela, a Mamelodi-born athlete whose passion for athletics has continued to grow since he first discovered the sport at a young age.

From netball to athletics, these stories remind us that talent can be found everywhere - and with determination, opportunity and support, dreams can become reality.

Back in 2025 | Phumlani Nkosi - From Casual Runner to Athletic Enthusiast

Phumlani “UMsubathi” Nkosi from Johannesburg discovered running after high school as a way to stay healthy, but his passion soon grew into competitive athletics.

He participates in Elim Clinic Athletics Club and Thembisa Athletics Club. One of his notable achievements was finishing third in a half-marathon at altitude with a time of 69 minutes, an experience that sparked his interest in nutrition and improving athletic performance.

Phumlani is passionate about helping athletes understand the importance of nutrition and experiments with different supplements and nutrition strategies to share his knowledge with fellow runners.

His current goal is to break 30 minutes for 10km, improving his personal best of 31:57. Inspired by Yuki Kawauchi and Hendrick Ramaala, he believes dedication, proper training and focus can help athletes achieve their goals.

Phumlani remains positive about the future of athletics in South Africa and believes major races and corporate support can help the sport continue to grow.
