Par‑5 perfection — Valentino’s incredible albatross! 🐦⛳
Valentino Daniels carded the rarest of birds — the second recorded albatross in EP Golf tournament play history — at St Francis Bay Golf Club during the St Francis Classic on Sunday 5 July 2026. 💥 That is three under in one hole, let that sink in for a moment!
Valentino Daniels hit the ideal drive, down the middle. Not thinking he'd reach, he selected his three‑wood and flushed it, covering 247m to albatross the Par‑5 6th — a hole famed for its tiny green that’s tough to hold on any day.
An astonishing achievement for any golfer, let alone at age fifteen! 🎉 (The first albatross was recorded by the legendary Dennis Smith in the 80's on the 17th hole during the playing of the Wedgewood Vase).
There’s no single definitive probability, but an albatross (hole‑in‑two on a par‑5) is extremely rare.
Rough practical estimates:
Professional level: on the order of 1 in 500,000 to 1 in 2,000,000 rounds (very roughly 0.00005%–0.0002%).
Amateur level: much rarer — commonly estimated between about 1 in 1,000,000 and 1 in 6,000,000 rounds.
Valentino, we salute you! 🏆

Tiaan Tibshraeny on a Tear: Winning Everything Right Now
What a Sunday it was at the 2026 St Francis Classic at St Francis Bay Golf Club!
Huge thanks to Gary and the St Francis team for availing the course and presenting it in an excellent condition.
Massive congratulations to Tiaan Tibshraeny for is back-to-back heroics this weekend: firstly winning the Humewood Club Championship in a 36-hole final on Saturday, then lifting the St Francis Classic trophy the very next day. Seventy-plus holes of elite golf in 48 hours — phenomenal! Tiaan, was this perhaps your best golfing weekend ever?
A standout moment: Valentino Daniels achieved an albatross on the Par-5 6th, with a 247m piping hot three wood into the postage-stamp-sized green! An Albatross, the rarest of birds and only the second one recorded in EP Golf tournament play history. An extraordinary feat and a sign of great things to come. Congratulations young man!
Also congratulations to Johndré Ludick on earning his full Protea colours — we’re all so immensely proud of you Johndré, along with your family.
Golf in the Eastern Cape is in a good place!

The Eastern Province Senior Amateur Open Championship! ⛳️🇿🇦 Played at St Francis Bay Golf Club on 27–28 June 2026.
This event closed out the Eastern Cape swing on the national Order of Merit calendar. Players from across South Africa showed up to take on tight lines off the tees and tricky, grainy greens. Abrie Ackerman and Cameron Johnson set the early pace, carding a level round of 71 apiece at the end of day one, while the Southern Cape Golf Union star - Ivan Williams, was lurking one back. Remarkable, considering Williams played the course the last time in 2006. On day two Ivan gained on the leaders and had to hole out for a birdie on 18 to fend off Cameron Johnson, who made a very lengthy birdie putt of his own. 👏🏆
Here are some of the highlights and your winners - watch!
Huge thanks to St Francis Bay Golf Club and the Eastern Province Golf Union for hosting a first-class event — already lots of players committed for 2027. Save the date around this time next year, and add this one to your golfing plans! 📅⛳️🔥
