WHAT IS DRIVE....
To all our clients new and old, this is a great explanation of what was and is discussed and done on and at all our training sessions.
This is what we work towards, this technique works and it works well.
You get dogs that are focused on you and you alone.
Slow is fast and fast is slow, don't skip a step.
See you on the training field this Saturday.

đ Building Your Dogâs Tracking Journey đ
Hey everyone, Trainer Rika here with some of my âTrail Tipsâ !
When it comes to training a sceneâspecific or tracking dog, the answer is always yesâevery dog has that incredible potential!
But before we jump straight into the super-sleuthing work, thereâs a journey we get to take together.
Training a tracking or trailing dog starts with the basics:
- building a strong bond,
- mastering obedience, and
- ensuring those lead and harness manners are on point.
Think of it as laying a solid foundation before we build the house.
So when you reach out and ask,
âCan you help my dog learn to track?â the answer is absolutely yes!
We just take the journey stepâbyâstep, focusing on trust, consistency, and those essential building blocks.
Before you know it, your dog will be ready for the exciting world of scent work!
Happy training.

Building a brighter future for dogs in the human world.

đž Beware of the Half-Baked Puppy. đž
Thinking of getting a puppy? Read this before you buy!
If a breeder is pawning off pups at 5â8 weeks, itâs not because theyâre âready.â Itâs because theyâre most likely dodging vet bills, vaccination costs and food costs or they just don't know of better. And youâre left with a half-baked puppyâsocially unfinished, behaviorally raw, and headed straight for trouble.
đ
Puppy Development Timeline
Week 8: Puppies are just starting to explore the world. Theyâre still learning bite inhibition and social cues from mom and littermates.
Week 9â10: Critical lessons in manners, bite control, and confidence. This is when mom teaches them how hard is too hard.
Week 11â12: Independence blossoms, personalities emerge, and pups are finally ready to transition into human homes with a solid foundation.
𦴠Why Bite Inhibition Matters
Skip this phase, and you skip bite inhibition. That means your pup grows up thinking teeth are toys. Trainers like me end up with your âproblem dogâ biting hands, clothes, and kidsâand youâre left wondering why. Spoiler: no human can teach bite control like a stable mom can.
â
Ethical Breeders
Ethical breeders keep pups with their mothers until at least 10â12 weeks. They invest in vaccinations, vet care, and proper socialization. They donât rush puppies out the door to save a buck.
đŤ Donât Buy Into the Half-Baked Puppy Syndrome
Next time you see an advert for pups âready at 5 or 6 weeks,â remember: thatâs not readiness, thatâs recklessness. Take one to know oneâand trust the trainers, behaviorists, and mentors who deal with the fallout every day.
Keep pups with mom longer. Save yourself the ouch. Save your trainer the headache. Raise a dog the ethical way.

Rika Venter Sassy-Soaked Training Tip of the Day đââď¸
đ March â Muzzle â Magic đ
I am muzzle trained.
Not because Iâm out here plotting chaosâŚ
But because life is messy.
And sometimes my inner gremlin wakes up before my manners do.
Pain happens.
Fear happens.
Change happens.
-And donât even get me started on squirrels, those tiny park ninjas.
So when my brain decides to take a quick lunch break in the middle of a stressful moment, my muzzle jumps in like the responsible friend in every group:
âSweetie, I love you⌠but no.â
A muzzle isnât a punishment.
It isnât an insult.
Itâs - the dog version of putting on a bra, no a seat belt, - Not always needed, but always necessary when needed.
Smart dog owners donât wait for drama.
They donât cross their fingers and hope for the best.
They plan ahead, like the strategic geniuses they are.
Because nothing says âI adore my dogâ like preventing them from making a questionable life choice that lands us on a community WhatsApp group. đ
A muzzle doesnât mean a dog is dangerous.
It means someone cared enough to be prepared.
Which, honestly, Is giving main-character energy. đĽ
-- And Yes, you need to Train your dog to wear this Awsome accessory-- Magic only happens when the time is put in.
