TJANTJELLO TRAINING SOLUTIONS CELEBRATES YOUTH DAY BY EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION THROUGH CAREER DEVELOPMENT AWARENESS
Middelburg, Mpumalanga | 16 June 2026
In honour of Youth Day and the enduring spirit of South Africa’s young people, Tjantjello Training Solutions (TTS) proudly hosted a Career Day in Middelburg, Mpumalanga. A meaningful initiative dedicated to unlocking opportunity, igniting ambition, and equipping our youth with the knowledge they need to take their rightful place in the South African economy.
As a multiple Seta and QCTO accredited skills development provider, TTS’s mission has always been clear. To improve the lives of young people and make them economically active citizens of our country. We believe that access to information is the first step toward transformation , and on this Youth Day Youth Day we took that responsibility seriously.
Empowering Youth Through Knowledge
The career day brought together young people from across Middelburg and surrounding areas, creating a vibrant platform for learning, dialogue, and inspiration. Participants received valuable, practical information across a comprehensive range of skills development pathways available to them in South Africa, including:
Skills Programmes — Short, focused, unit-standard based programmes that allow young people to gain recognised qualifications incrementally, building their competencies at their own pace while entering the world of work.
Learnerships — Structured learning programmes that combine theoretical training with practical workplace experience. Learnerships lead to nationally recognised NQF qualifications and are one of the most powerful tools available to unemployed youth seeking a foot in the door of their chosen industry.
Occupational Qualifications — Industry-designed qualifications aligned to real workplace demands, equipping learners with occupation-specific skills that employers actively seek. These qualifications ensure that young people are not just trained , they are work-ready.
Apprenticeship Programmes — A time-honoured pathway into the trades and technical sectors. Apprenticeships provide structured, mentored, hands-on training leading to trade test certification, opening doors to sustainable careers in artisanal and technical fields that are critical to South Africa’s infrastructure and economic growth.
Internships — An essential bridge between academic learning and the professional world. Participants were guided on how to identify internship opportunities, what to expect, and how to leverage the experience to build their professional profiles and networks.
Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) — Specifically designed for Graduates. WIL ensures that theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom is applied in real workplace settings, strengthening the relevance of college qualifications and improving graduate employability.
Why This Matters
South Africa faces one of the most severe youth unemployment crises in the world. Too many of our young people leave school or higher learning institutions without knowing what pathways are available to them. Not because the opportunities don’t exist, but because no one told them. At TTS, we refuse to accept that reality.
Youth Day is not merely a commemoration, it is a call to action. Just as the youth of 1976 stood up against injustice, today’s generation must stand up against poverty, ignorance of opportunity, and economic exclusion. Our role as an accredited skills development provider is to ensure that no young person in our communities is left behind simply because they lacked information.
“Empowering the Youth is Our Mission,” and this career day was a direct expression of that commitment. Every learner who walked through today left with more than information . They left with direction, with hope, and with the knowledge that there is a structured, supported path available to them.
A Call to Partners and Stakeholders
TTS extends its gratitude to every young person who attended, to the community of Middelburg for their warm reception, and to all stakeholders in the skills development ecosystem. We call on Employers , SETAs, TVET Colleges, and Community Organizations to join us in this critical work. The fight against youth unemployment is not one organisation’s battle. It is a national imperative that demands collective action.
Together, we can build a South Africa where every young person has access to skills, to opportunity, and to a dignified future.
