Congratulations to BSI alum, Kananelo Makhanya, on his exciting move to the University of Pikeville in USA, where he will continue both his academic and football journey.
Kananelo’s BSI journey started in our full-time Academy: Youth Development Program (YDP), which includes intensive football training, sports science support and quality high schooling.

Few people have experienced Wimbledon from as many perspectives as John-Laffnie de Jager.
As a player, JL competed on these iconic grass courts, reached a career-high ATP doubles ranking of World No. 11, represented South Africa at the Sydney Olympic Games, reached Grand Slam semifinals and contested two Grand Slam mixed doubles finals. Returning to Wimbledon this week for an interview made the moment even more special. John-Laffnie de Jager
The interview focused on two remarkable figures in world tennis—Craig Tiley and Roger Federer.
For JL, the conversation carried a personal meaning. Craig Tiley has been a mentor throughout much of his career, helping shape his thinking as both a player and coach. Today, those lessons continue to influence the philosophy behind player development at JL's Tennis Academy.
The discussion also celebrated Roger Federer's induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame—a fitting recognition for one of the greatest ambassadors the game has ever known. Federer's legacy extends far beyond his titles, inspiring generations through his excellence, humility and sportsmanship.
Seeing JL back at Wimbledon—where so much of his own tennis journey unfolded—was a reminder that the greatest lessons in sport are often passed from one generation to the next. Experiences gained on the world's biggest stages continue to shape the players, coaches and leaders who will influence the future of our game.
