Making Memories with Harvard House πŸ‰β˜€οΈ

Howick Bowling Club members enjoyed a magnificent sunny winter's afternoon in the Harvard House sponsored "Springbok Themed" Drawn 2-4-2 Competition.

With 2-4-2 being such a popular format, two full greens were in action as bowlers strutted their stuff in a wonderful atmosphere of camaraderie and competition. It was a pleasure to have Clare Mitchell from Harvard House in attendance, bringing her trademark enthusiasm and capturing the afternoon's memories behind the camera.

There were some incredibly close contests throughout the day, with several matches going right down to the wire before the winners could be determined. The quality of bowls on display was matched only by the spirit in which the games were played.

The prizes were generous meat hampers sponsored by Harvard House and expertly packed by Meander Prime Cuts.

Congratulations to our prize winners:
πŸ₯‡ 1st – Stewart McConnachie & Adele Hogg
πŸ₯ˆ 2nd – Rob Andrew & Joy Hohls
πŸ₯‰ 3rd – Colin Burden & Dutchie Le Roux
πŸ… 4th – Clive Kemp & Doc Louw

A huge thank you to Harvard House for their continued support of our club and our members. We admire the way Harvard House focuses on community well-being and making a positive difference in people's lives. As a club, we are privileged to be associated with such a community-minded organisation.

What an incredible afternoon of community spirit and generosity at the uMngeni SPCA Fundraiser held at Howick Bowling Club on Tuesday, 30 June at 1:30pm.

Despite the chilly winter weather, 78 people braved the cold to come out and support our local SPCA. We enjoyed an awesome afternoon of bowls with a fun drawn tabs competition, and the atmosphere throughout the day was fantastic.

With 78 participants at R50 per person, we would have initially raised R3,900. However, thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone involved, including the auction of our latest Natal Inland Champion, we far exceeded expectations.

By the end of the day we raised:
β€’ R12,680 in cash
β€’ Approximately R9,250 in gifts and services from participating businesses

A huge thank you to our supporting businesses:

Howick F&F Build It
Tile Africa PMB
Hall's Adhesive PMB
Clint Nortje of Midlands Tiling & Plumbing and his family
D***s van Heerden Inc
Busby Oils
Nottingham Road Hotel
Gelmar

Together we were able to raise an amazing total of approximately R21,930 in cash, gifts and services for this worthy cause.

As a club, we would like to sincerely thank all our members and visitors who came along and supported this fundraiser. Your generosity and community spirit made this event such a success.

Huge congratulations as well to all the winners!

The attached photos showcase our winners and capture some wonderful moments from a truly memorable day.

It's a Wrap: Howick Singles Championship Delivers Thrilling Finale

The 2026 Howick Bowling Club Singles Championship came to an exciting conclusion on a chilly Saturday morning, 13 June, with members and supporters turning out in force to witness the club's premier singles event.

Despite the winter temperatures, the warmth of the Howick Bowling Club spirit was on full display as a healthy contingent of members arrived wrapped in blankets and beanies to cheer on the finalists. The new sports club convenors were also on hand with delicious bacon and egg rolls and old brown sherry on tap.

The championship, which attracted its largest entry field in more than 20 years, certainly lived up to expectations. Throughout the finals, the lead changed hands several times as both matches ebbed and flowed, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats and gasping for more.

In the Women's Final, defending champion Stephanie Crause once again demonstrated her class and composure under pressure, successfully defending her title and retaining the Ladies Singles Championship crown.

The Men's Final produced equally high-quality bowling, with Craig Whitby delivering a strong and composed performance to successfully defend his Men's Singles Championship title.

Both champions will now have the honour of representing Howick Bowling Club at the upcoming Natal Inland Champion of Champions Tournament, where they will compete against the region's top club champions.

The club extends its heartfelt congratulations to Stephanie and Craig on their outstanding achievements. We are incredibly proud of both of you and wish you every success as you carry the Howick Bowling Club banner into the Champion of Champions competition.
