Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision has important health benefits, including reducing the risk of HIV infection and certain sexually transmitted infections, and promoting better long-term health outcomes for men and boys.

As part of the Department’s efforts to reach eligible girl learners across the province, school health nurses are at Moduopo Primary School, a public school school in Tembisa, administering the one-shot HPV vaccine.

The 2026 HPV Single-Dose Vaccination Campaign is running from 03 August to 09 October 2026, with vaccinations taking place at schools across Gauteng.
The vaccine provides lifelong protection against HPV, which can cause cervical cancer.

As the HPV vaccination programme takes place at schools, parents are encouraged to sign and return the consent forms to allow eligible girl learners to receive the one-shot HPV vaccine. By signing the consent form, you are supporting your daughter’s access to protection against HPV and helping prevent cervical cancer.
