Andile Tokwe - George Randell High School

2. Coaching Position: 1st XV Forwards Coach

3. Playing Background:

A George Randell High School Old Boy from the Class of 2012, Coach Andile Tokwe began his playing journey at school before representing Bloem Police Rugby Club in the in Free State Challenge Cup and Mangaung Metro League Cup (2013–2015) and later joined CUT Bloem Rugby (2016–2019) winning the Mangaung Metro League with the CUT Shawas in 2019. Represented Free State Deaf Rugby during his playing years.

4. How did you get into coaching?
His introduction into coaching was inspired by his former CUT Rhinos coach, Frans Sisita. He returned to George Randell High School to revive the rugby in 2022.

“Determination and passion build character.”
Coach Tokwe focuses on developing disciplined, accountable, confident and committed players, both on and off the field.

8. Biggest Challenge this Season:
Maintaining a winning streak since the start of the season. Helping players manage their academic obligations and their fitness levels.

9. Goal for the season
Win the Play-Offs and challenge for the Cup Winners' Trophy at the 2026 Lilyfontein 7s.

Beyond coaching
Coach Tokwe is also a Co-Founder and Secretary of the BCM Schools Rugby B League, contributing to the continued growth and development of schoolboy rugby in the Border region.
He also served as the South African Deaf Rugby Association (SADRA) as Treasurer.

We also managed to catch up with the coach of Baysville School.

Jarred Moss — Baysville School

2. Coaching Position:

Rugby Coach — Baysville School

3. Playing Background:

Jarred started playing rugby in Grade 1, representing Stirling throughout his high school years. His playing journey took him across the country, including Bloemfontein, Graaff-Reinet and Durban.

He later transitioned into senior club rugby with Buffs Club, where he experienced success by winning the League Cup.

4. How Did You Get Into Coaching?

Built on a lifelong passion for rugby and years of playing experience, Jarred naturally moved into team leadership and management.

A major highlight of his journey was serving as the Manager of the LSEN U18 EPRU Craven Week side, giving him valuable experience at a high level of schoolboy rugby.

5. Your Coaching Philosophy:

“You get out what you put in.”

For Jarred, preparation, resilience and daily application are the foundation of success. He believes what players put into their development every day will ultimately determine what they get out of it.

6. Key Values You Instill in Your Players:

Hunger. Humility. Accountability. Character.

Jarred wants his players to remain hungry to improve, humble in success, accountable for their actions and committed to developing strong character.

7. Biggest Coaching Achievement:

One of Jarred's biggest coaching achievements has been managing the LSEN U18 EPRU Craven Week side.

His rugby journey also includes top-flight club success, being part of the Buffs Club team that won the League Cup.

8. Biggest Challenge This Season:

Fostering a consistent, high-intensity work ethic that challenges players to push beyond their comfort zones and demand more from themselves.

9. Goal for the Rest of the Season:

To see the squad develop strong, tight-knit cohesion, execute with discipline and leave everything on the field every time they represent Baysville School.

10. One Piece of Advice for Young Players:

“You get out what you put in, and hard work will always trump natural talent. Be hungry, be humble, and always give all honour and glory to God.”

Next Up, is the coach of Stutterheim High School.

Sthembele Leonard Klaas — Stutterheim High School

2. Coaching Position:

1st XV Head Coach — Stutterheim High School

Sthembele is also actively involved in rugby within his local community.

3. Playing Background:

Sthembele played fly half, centre and fullback, representing Wallabies in the Premier League and Swallows in the Super League.

4. How Did You Get Into Coaching?

After his playing career came to an end, Sthembele started helping out at his local rugby team. What began as an opportunity to give back soon became a passion for developing young talent.

5. Your Coaching Philosophy:

“Skill first, character always. If we get the basics right, results follow.”

For Sthembele, developing strong fundamentals and building good character are the foundation for long-term success.

6. Key Values You Instill in Your Players:

Discipline. Respect. Eagerness to learn. Hard work.

He believes players must be willing to learn, respect the game and those around them, and consistently put in the work required to improve.

7. Biggest Coaching Achievement:

One of Sthembele's proudest achievements was winning the Heritage Tournament in 2024 with his first team at local level.
He also guided the U13 team to victory in the Sports Against Crime Tournament in 2023 and again in 2026.

Adding to an already impressive coaching journey, his local team is set to compete in the First Division Play-offs in 2026.

8. Biggest Challenge This Season:

Working with a young group of players while also dealing with a shortage of players.

Despite these challenges, the team continues to compete and develop.

9. Goal for the Rest of the Season:

To finish at the top of the log while creating opportunities for some of his players to progress and compete at higher levels of rugby.

10. One Piece of Advice for Young Players:

“Discipline and talent gets you noticed. Character gets you selected.”

👤 Beyond Rugby:

Away from the rugby field, Sthembele works as a Supervisor at Amahlathi Local Municipality. He is married and a proud father of five.
You can also find him refereeing on weekends, continuing to contribute to rugby in different ways.

As we spotlight the Top 4 teams in the BCM Schools Rugby B League headed for PlayOffs, we get to know the coaches behind the teams.

First up is the well experienced coach of Centre of Excellence
Luvuyo Madliki — Centre of Excellence

2. Coaching Position:

Head Coach — Centre of Excellence 1st XV

3. Playing Background:

Luvuyo has an extensive playing background spanning several years. He represented Buffalo City FET, where he captained the rugby team from 2007–2008, before playing for NWU Pukke U21 in 2009 and UKZN from 2010–2012. He continues to play club rugby with Police Rugby Club, he has won the Super 14 Club Cup four times and the Border League five times.

4. How did you get into coaching?

With a strong playing background and years of experience in rugby, Luvuyo transitioned his passion and knowledge of the game into coaching, where he has now accumulated 12 years of coaching experience.

5. Your Coaching Philosophy:

“Resilience, physicality and earning the right to go wide.”
Luvuyo believes in being **prepared, being on time and executing with a calm and focused mind**. His approach is built around developing mentally strong, physically committed players who understand that success is earned through preparation and ex*****on.

6. Key Values You Instill in Your Players:

Hard work, resilience, discipline, preparation, punctuality and composure.
Luvuyo believes that players must be willing to work hard, remain resilient through challenges and maintain discipline both on and off the field.

7. Biggest Coaching Achievement:

Winning the Border U15 iQhawe Week National Title in 2025, after finishing as runners-up in 2024.
Luvuyo has also won the BCM B League three times, as well as the Cup and District Championships twice with Centre of Excellence.
He currently also serves as an Assistant Coach for Border U16 Grant Khomo.

8. Biggest Challenge This Season:

Not having our own rugby field to practise on.
The team often has to find an available green patch to train on each day, which creates challenges around consistency and preparation.

9. Goal for the Rest of the Season:

To win the BCM B League for the third consecutive year and claim the District Championship for the third consecutive year.

10. One Piece of Advice for Young Players:

“Talent alone is not enough to become the greatest athlete. Hard work, resilience and discipline will get you to the top.”

The League phase has come to an end...and we have a league phase winner!

With things all square at Stutterheim the log looks somewhat. Log points all level for the top 3. He who scored the most points has taken the league phase!

This game is the last of the U19s matches and it will decide the Spots for Semi Final 1 and Semi Final 2 next week!
Stutterheim the only unbeated side this season takes on Centre of Excellence the 2 time winners of the League Phase!

Traffic Alert!
As the Top 4 places are slowing becoming set in stone for this year, the week ahead looks to be a promising fireworks and possibly upsets.

Baysville School and George Randell HS kick off the week today already. Baysville (4th place) fighting to remain in the Top 4. George Randell HS still wounded from the first loss in the league against Stutterheim HS this past Saturday, are looking to redeem themselves and fight to return to the top spot.
Stutterheim HS remains the only unbeaten side in the U19s League Phase thus far. Will they go all the way to the finals? Only time will tell.

Most teams are finalizing the League phase matches with the high anticipated match between Centre of Excellence and Stutterheim High set for next week to officially decide the Top 4.

In the U16s
This week Stutterheim High U16s (1st Place), the only unbeaten side in the U16s League, will do battle West Bank High School - E.L (4th Place) in a Top 4 battle.
