𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 held off a strong 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 challenge to secure a 𝟮-𝟭 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 in the second test on 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆!

Following their opening 3-1 win on Monday, SA were made to work hard. The first quarter was tight and physical, with both teams struggling to create clear chances.

Malaysia took control of the attacking momentum in the second quarter, winning penalty corners and challenging the SA defence. But Cullin de Jager, named Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the FIH Nations Cup, continued with another commanding display in goal.

SA stood firm while Malaysia continued to threaten, with Azrai looking superb in attack, but was denied by De Jager and Sam Mvimbi. Sihle Ngubane forced Othman into a good save as the first half ended.

After 43 goalless minutes, the crowd was treated to a frantic three-minute spell that brought the game to life.

Jamie Seale opened the scoring for SA after excellent work from Carlon Mentoor. Seale fired home a reverse-stick strike from the top of the circle to score his 1st international goal.

Malaysia responded immediately, catching SA napping from the restart. Jalil produced a brilliant first-time touch to set up the dangerous Azrai, who left De Jager with no chance.

SA struck before the end of the third quarter. A well-worked penalty corner variation saw Calvin Davis flick towards goal, with captain Dayaan Cassiem getting the crucial deflection, restoring the lead.

SA's defence held firm under pressure in the final quarter as they claimed victory, and Cullin de Jager was named Player of the Match after another outstanding performance in goal.

Meet the contenders: WPCC Ladies.

The defending champions arrive as the 2026 number one seed, and they bring serious firepower. This fiery team from Cape Town is home to South African internationals Kayla de Waal and Marlise van Tonder, both part of the Green Machine side that won an eighth straight African title and booked their place at the 2026 World Cup. Road to World Cup, quite literally.
