Hey MyGibaRunners, after missing-out on last week’s event, which I am told, attracted only a rather disappointing 6 participants, my babe Rose and I are looking forward to interacting with our wonderful members again, and I’m eager to try out the new routes as well.🥳

I looks like we’re might enjoy a few drops of rain, but that shouldn’t deter anyone - given the lovely, cool, conditions that are forecast.🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🏃‍♀️🦮

On a more serious note, I’m hoping that we start seeing a few more participants at our events because, quite frankly, whilst we thoroughly enjoy our Sunday outings at the beautiful Giba Gorge MTB Park, catering for so few participants is hardly worth the time and effort of having a Giba employee allocated to erect the inflatable Giba arch and monitor the event for approximately three hours every Sunday morning.

Whilst a few of us are fully paid-up members, and can gain free access to Giba at any time during their operating hours, it would be a pity to see the Sunday mornings free entry privilege terminated by our very generous hosts due to ongoing poor attendance. I can only hope that some of our members who have been “missing in action” for a while will appreciate this situation and make an effort to join us more regularly.🙏 No pressure. . . 😇

Hey MyGibaRunners, last week we initially invited you to come and experience an adventure at Giba Gorge MTB Park for our 132nd event - but we resorted to using our existing routes again. . . Well,that was rather short-lived, as we had already planned to map out new routes, and Senzo returned from his holiday on Monday, and promptly proceeded as planned. He informed me at last night’s Giba Night Run that the new routes have been sign-posted and ready for use on Sunday morning for our MyGibaRun #133 event. 🎉🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🏃‍♀️🦮

I haven’t had the opportunity to check out the new routes, so you are, once again, invited to join us on Sunday morning for an “adventure” - I’m looking forward to trying out the new routes for the first time - and the weather forecast is GREAT.🥳

# # AN IMPORTANT NOTICE # # Please DO NOT use the original riverside route as it crosses Gibaland property and they have, once again, interfered with our trails and also try to charge Giba Gorge MTB Park trail users a fee. Our new routes avoid their property altogether, so NOBODY can interfere with our members or try to extort money from us.

Giba Gorge MTB Park hosted another successful Night Run this evening - and, with Michael Hay away on holiday, Senzo Shozi made the necessary arrangements and marked out the route for the event. 👍

It was the first event that my babe Rose and I attended for a while, and it felt great to be back and to see so many familiar faces.🥳📸

As usual, the majority of the participants were members of The IRON Movement Winston Park, and, as usual, they brought their wonderful team spirit along to perk-up the event.🎉🙏

Weather conditions were near perfect, definitely not as cold as expected. Everyone gathered at afterwards, and Senzo completed the lucky draw while they enjoyed refreshments and pizzas before heading home.

Good Sunday evening, MyGibaRunners.🙏 Welcome to the photo album of today’s 132nd MyGibaRun event.📸🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🏃‍♀️🦮

Unfortunately we only had 11 eager souls to enjoy a welcome return to our original trail routes - without any obstacles 😇🥳.

I guess that the very popular road event that was held in Durban this morning might have played a part in our depleted numbers.🤔

Anyway, this didn’t detract for the fun that we had in absolutely beautiful, perfect weather conditions - and, with so few “subjects”, my babe Rose and I enjoyed taking photos and videos that I’ve had loads of fun editing and are included in the album. I can’t avoid mentioning that there’s a cool musical video of our legend, Crawford Reid, showing us some rather interesting dance moves - on the trail😱😜🥳🕺🤣. There’s also a short section with Michelle Wearing Albers showing us a few of HER dance moves towards the end of the album.🥳💃🤣

We hope you will enjoy the smaller-than-usual album, and hopefully, we will see a few more MyGibaRunners on the trails next Sunday - our first event in July.🙏

BTW - Please remember that Giba Gorge MTB Park will be hosting it’s monthly Night Run/Cycle event on Wednesday evening, 1st July - If you want to try your luck at this wonderful event, please bring along a decent headlamp/torch, as the event starts at 18:00 and it’s gets pretty dark out there.😇 My babe Rose and I are planning to be there to capture some of the action 📸👍. The route is constantly changed and tested by the event organiser, Michael Hay - so you only get to know the route at his pre-run briefing, a few minutes before the start.😜 Go on, be adventurous.🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🚵‍♂️🚵‍♀️ 🥳

# # IMPORTANT UPDATE # # In the interests of everyone who frequent Giba Gorge MTB Park and the entire eco trail area, our hosts have come to an amicable arrangement with the other party involved and we’re pleased in inform you that OUR NORMAL TRAILS WILL BE OPEN AGAIN FOR TOMORROW’s MyGibaRun EVENT. 🥳

Hopefully this will encourage more of our usual participants to join us again tomorrow morning. 😇🙏

Hey MyGibaRunners - once again, Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads out there - and especially to those wonderful dads who attended our small, but very pleasant, MyGibaRun event at Giba Gorge MTB Park this morning. 🙏🥳

Richard Bezuidenhout, Crawford Reid and Andre de la Rey were the obvious choice to grace the cover of today’s photo album.👍

Thanks also to the personal efforts of our host, Jo Harburn, whom you will see a few candid photos of 📸🤗, for arranging a “quick-fix” to our recent trail-blockage dilemma, with a temporary change to our route and posting two marshals at strategic points to ensure that all Giba trail users stayed on the correct trails. Huge appreciation from all of us to you and your trail team, Jo.🙏🤗

With only 9 official participants, my babe Rose and I also took quite a number of photos of the other enthusiastic trail users - mountain bikers.🚵‍♂️🚵‍♀️.📸 We share our trails with these friendly cyclists, and giving them some exposure in our albums, that are always shared to the Giba Gorge MTB Park page, is always a pleasure. Hopefully some of the antics performed by a few of the youngsters will be appreciated by them- a couple of good snaps taken by Rose.📸🥳

I also had a wonderful encounter and chat with a Giba regular, a very health-conscious young Johno (Johnathan Hollard), who offered me some interesting titbits of information that could help my recovery from my recent health problems, with more to follow.🙏 I’m ready to try even some horrible tasting stuff, if it makes coping to BP meds any easier. 😇😜.

BTW - our temporary trail changes will remain until Senzo returns from Holiday - then we can all get excited about something new 😜🥳🏃‍♂️🏃🏿‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃🏾‍♂️🦮.

Please set your alarms for early on Sunday morning, grab your dads, and bring them along to Giba for a lovely, fresh outing on our beautiful trails, followed by a sumptuous breakfast at afterwards.🥳 What better way can there be to start out on a day that celebrates the fathers of our world?🎉

# # PLEASE NOTE # # Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have temporary routes for our Father’s Day event. These details will be updated when permanent routes changes have been made. Senzo is presently on leave, and he will make the necessary changes when he returns to work - I will then be able to post updated details of the changes.👍

I checked the changed sections of the trail this afternoon, and it’s in great condition - all you need to do is follow our usual orange and blue MyGibaRun signs. You will see the sections that have been taped off, so you won’t get confused. There will also be a few Marshalls posted by Giba management at strategic points to assist you.👍
