End of Day Two | iLembe District Sports Stakeholders Consultation

The two-day iLembe District Sports Stakeholders Consultation has successfully concluded at the Hampshire Hotel.

Over the course of the consultation, stakeholders from across the district engaged in meaningful discussions focused on strengthening sport governance, improving collaboration, addressing key challenges, and identifying practical strategies to advance the development of sport and enhance athlete performance within the district.

The KwaZulu-Natal Sports Confederation extends its appreciation to all stakeholders who participated and contributed towards shaping a stronger and more sustainable sporting future for the iLembe District.

Together, we continue to build a united and thriving sporting sector.

Day One of the iLembe District Sports Stakeholders Consultation concluded successfully, bringing together key stakeholders to engage on matters relating to the governance, stakeholders roles and responsibilities, development, and advancement of sport across the district.

The consultation provided a valuable platform to identify challenges affecting sport within the district, while exploring practical solutions to strengthen governance, enhance support structures, and improve the performance and development of athletes, clubs, and sporting organisations.

These discussions reaffirm a shared commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable sporting environment for the iLembe District.

The KZN Premier’s Cup 2026 officially got underway today with the Media Launch and Draw held at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban.

Addressing members of the media, participating clubs and stakeholders, KwaZulu-Natal Sports Confederation President Mr Thami Mchunu delivered a message of support, highlighting the significance of the tournament in promoting football development and showcasing the province’s football talent.

Mr Mchunu called on all participating teams to mobilise their supporters and encouraged football fans from across KwaZulu-Natal to come out in large numbers and fill both match venues, creating an electric atmosphere worthy of the province’s premier pre-season football tournament.

The draw also confirmed the fixtures for the competition, with teams now set to battle for the coveted KZN Premier’s Cup 2026 title later this month.

The countdown has officially begun!

Tomorrow, the KZN Premier’s Cup 2026 Media Launch and Official Draw will take place at the eLangeni Hotel as the six participating teams discover their opponents for this year’s highly anticipated tournament.

This year’s edition will be hosted in the eThekwini District, where KwaZulu-Natal’s top clubs will battle for provincial bragging rights.

The action kicks off on 25 July 2026, with the tournament culminating in the Final on 26 July 2026, where one team will lift the coveted KZN Premier’s Cup trophy.

Congratulations to Empangeni All Stars on being crowned the 2026 Siyabonga Sangweni Youth Month Festival Champions after a thrilling 2–1 victory over Isivunguvungu in an entertaining final.

Credit also goes to Isivunguvungu (Tornado) for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament and for fighting until the final whistle. Both teams showcased quality football and great sportsmanship, making for a memorable finale.
