Advanced gluteus medius exercise for low back and knee issues. - Integrative
The gluteus medius muscle is a primary stabilizer of the hip and when weak has been found to correlate with low back pain, hip pain, and knee pain. If you had to lose one muscle this would not be a good one to give up. I frequently find that the gluteus medius muscle is weak …

Posture is something I think most of us have a problem with unless if you have been taught by a professional how to correct your own posture and key points to think about when going through day to day life. Here is a great article that highlights the importance of correct posture and it will remind you of things we correct when we're training especially! Training with great posture is so important so the sooner you get an idea of what we're trying to achieve the better! Any questions...give me a shout!

Good Posture Helps Reduce Back Pain
Not maintaining good posture and adequate back support stresses the spine, which over time can lead to changes in the anatomical characteristics of the spinal structures and back pain from problems with muscles, nerves, discs and joints.

Very informative read for those struggling with chronic upper trap pain and tension. If you have ever woken up from a long nights rest with your head at a bad angle, getting home from work with a terrible tension headache coming from the back of your neck or even just driving for a extended period of time...you will know this pain!
It's important too remember that all these external factors has a bad affect on our posture (anterior and posterior) and it is vital to assess where the tension is coming from. Once you have determined this, ensure you see a professional to give you some corrective exercises and some stretches.
Also please remember if this is something you struggle with and you are following a training program on your own or with a trainer, controlling the movement of the scapula during exercise, is of the utmost importance! Please ask your trainer how to go about this...if he/she doesn't know...there's a problem!
Have a brilliant day and give me a shout if you've got any questions!

Just a quick note on rep ranges as it is one of the most asked questions regarding training in my experience. This will also give you a good idea of how far you can go with your rep amount to really grow some lean muscle. I have always believed that this is a science...there's no way of getting around it. There's is a specific rep range you need to stick too for a specific reason, exceeding what you have been told and scientifically been proven...combined with terrible technique and fatigue is wreckless and just plain stupid.
Have a plan, know what to do and stick to it and please remember...safety comes first! Train safely but effectively even if it takes you longer to get too your end goal!

Good morning guys!
New year and a new you! I urge you too consider the next assessment that I will be uploading and if you are unable too perform these tests on your own, drop me a message or pop into Virgin and il show you how! I'm always going on about knowing where you're at regarding flexibility and knowing when too and when not too stretch. I feel that this assessment is hugely overlooked among personal trainers and that training routines are being followed without testing the flexibility of the client before they start! As you will see, this article explains perfectly why this is so important and the reasoning behind it.
If you've trained with me before or a client currently, I'm sure all of this will make sense! If not, we can discuss it further when I see you for your session this week!
Have a brilliant day!!
