An incorrect saddle is only about comfort. In this blog post by Darrel Fitz-Gerald , we explain how saddle discomfort directly compromises pelvic stability and alters muscle recruitment patterns.

Darrel provides valuable insights into how Science to Sport uses the Gebeomized Saddle Pressure mapping technology in our Advanced and Professional Bike Fits, and the process to finding the best saddle for you.

As much as fun as it is to watch your stick man cycle - it’s also a really useful metric in our Professional and Medical Bike Fits.

If you’d like to see your stick man cycling to find your optimal fit - pop us a DM or visit our website to find out more or book your bike fit.

Of all dynamic assessments available, saddle pressure mapping provides the most practically relevant information. It reveals centre of pressure, rider stability, and guides saddle height, setback and handlebar reach in an indirect but repeatable way.

Take the guesswork out. Discover where your true potential lies by testing your VO2max, your thresholds and your actual training zones. Because you can’t train effectively without knowing your own physiology.

The test requires laboratory-grade equipment and staff who know how to interpret the results. A complete range of metabolic tests for runners is available at our labs in Girona and Cape Town, using Viasys (Cape Town) and FFiTTech (Girona) treadmills with gas-exchange analysis via Cosmed metabolic cart.

“I feel fine until I go really hard — then leg just dies.” - a comment so often misattributed to fitness, fatigue, or biomechanics. But in reality, the limitation is vascular — and a very real instance of endofibrosis.

While awareness of the condition has grown in professional cycling and other endurance sports involving prolonged hip flexion, delays in diagnosis remain common.

In our blog post written by Jeroen Swart , we cover the diagnosis, management and recovery of endofibrosis in cyclists.

A coach is not a training plan. A Science to Sport coach is the person who interprets the ambiguous signals your data can’t explain; why Tuesday’s session felt terrible despite perfect numbers, whether that ni**le warrants a rest day or a push-through or how to restructure a race block when life gets in the way. 📈

If you’re looking for someone to guide through your cycling and running goals, we’d love to help.

You don’t need a new bike to change your bike set up.

Often times, small ni**les start on a bike fit that has been perfectly comfortable before, but factors such as training load or injury can impact your overall bike comfort and performance. 🙌

If you’ve been experiencing discomfort on a previously comfortable set up, consider a bike fit with one of specialists in 📍Girona or 📍Cape Town.
