Who looks after the mountain when we’re not running on it? 🐍⛰️

Meet Kenneth from the SANParks Honorary Rangers, one of the passionate volunteers helping protect the trails, wildlife and landscapes that make Cape Cobra possible.

In this episode of The Cobra Channel, we dive into the difference between SANParks and the SANParks Honorary Rangers, what they actually do, how they’re funded, and how every one of us can play a part in protecting these incredible places.

Because every great trail race starts long before the start line.

Every race has a story. Ours has just begun, and we plan to capture it all.

From now until race day, we’ll be dropping a new episode every week, taking you behind the scenes and introducing you to the athletes, artists, conservationists, volunteers, partners and personalities who make Cape Cobra what it is.

We’ve front-loaded a few episodes to get you started, with many more stories still to come.

By the time you stand on the start line you will be a part of the pulse. You’ll know the runner beside you. You’ll know the face behind the sponsor’s banner overhead. You’ll know the people protecting the trails beneath your feet. And when you cross the finish line, it won’t feel like the end of a race, it’ll feel like celebrating with a family.

Welcome to The Cobra Channel.

Your order has arrived. Welcome back, Mr D!

Some of you might recognise this ad from last year. The truth is, we thought it deserved a little more airtime before we park it and start dreaming up the next one. 👀

Last year, Mr D helped bring the finish line festival to life with a few key deliveries:

🛵 The main stage
🛵 Live bands
🛵 The rugby screen
🛵 A finish line atmosphere worth sticking around for

This year, we’re going bigger.

🛵 An expanded finish line festival
🛵 A dedicated partner food court
🛵 Race-day specials
🛵 On-route activations
🛵 Competitions and giveaways
🛵 Recce run campaigns

And as always, a few deliveries we’re keeping under wraps for now. 😉

Cape Cobra has never been just about the run. It’s about the stories, the people, the atmosphere and what happens after you cross the line.

This is where Mr. D delivers.

Everyone deserves a chance to feel the bite 🐍

Introducing The Vineyard Labyrinth – our shortest strike.

10km | 411m of climbing through Constantia vineyards, fynbos and flowing singletrack. It’s the perfect entry into trail running, or a chance for experienced runners to empty the tank over a fast, hard effort.

This isn’t an easy option. It’s a venomous race with a proper challenge.

Entries are limited, so if the longer distances aren’t for you, this is your chance to join the Cobra party, support your mates out on course and be part of a brand-new event on the South African trail calendar.

🐍 The reckoning starts here.

We’re officially a UTMB Index race. 🐍🏔️

This has always been about more than just race day, it’s about contributing to the growth and professionalisation of trail running in South Africa and aligning our events with global standards.

A UTMB Index race means that every finisher’s result is validated through the UTMB system. After the race, we submit verified results and athlete details and runners are then allocated a UTMB Index in their respective distance category (20K / 50K / 100K / 100M).

In simple terms: your performance here now counts on one of the most recognised global trail running platforms, opening the door for athletes to enter UTMB events around the world.

It’s a small administrative step with a big impact. Credibility, recognition and a stronger pathway for runners chasing bigger mountain goals.

Another step forward for the mountains, the community and the sport. 🐍🤘
