A Step Towards Healing

This evening I had the opportunity to attend the addiction support group meeting at Blessed Hope Church.

Addiction can affect individuals, families and entire communities, but there is always hope. What stood out for me tonight was the importance of having a safe space where people can speak openly, support one another and take steps towards a better life.

Thank you to everyone who continues to give their time, support and encouragement to those walking this journey.

Sometimes one conversation, one meeting and one person who cares can make a difference. 🙏❤️

🌊 FOLLOWING UP WITH OUR COMMUNITY

After speaking with residents about the illegal dumping in the area, I followed up on the concern that was raised and the City waste team came out to clear the site. The team attended the area twice today and started removing the waste.

I also spoke with residents about reporting illegal dumping. They explained that some people dumping in the area can become confrontational when challenged, which makes it important that residents do not put themselves at risk.

I requested that a No Illegal Dumping sign be placed at the site. A sign alone will not stop illegal dumping, but it can help reinforce the message and support efforts to keep the area clean.

There is still work to be done, and I will continue following up on the remaining waste.

🌊 FOLLOWING UP IN OUR COMMUNITY

After residents raised concerns about illegal dumping, the issue was reported.

Today, the City’s waste team came out and started clearing the area.

There is still work to be done, but this is a positive start. We will continue to follow up until the remaining waste is addressed.

When residents speak, we need to listen. When problems are reported, we need to follow up.

🌊 LISTENING TO OUR COMMUNITY

Today we went out into the community to listen to residents and hear directly about the issues affecting them.

One of the concerns raised was the serious problem of illegal dumping. We visited the area with residents, saw the situation firsthand and documented what we found.

This is where the work begins.

We will now move from listening to reporting and then follow up to see that the issue receives the necessary attention.

A safer and cleaner community requires all of us to play our part.
