Over the past few weeks we've been sharing the stories of the women who shape our club. Today we're celebrating all of them, and every woman in our community.

There's a place for every woman on our courts.

Talia picked up a racquet at 8 years old, coached by her dad, and never put it down.

18 years on, her journey has taken her through junior provincial squash for Northerns, a season with Western Province, first-team squash at Milnerton High and Stellenbosch University, and now league squash at Milnerton Squash Club, where 2025's highlight was winning the 5th league alongside her mum, Beverly, and a brilliant bunch of ladies.

"Squash brings people together despite being an individual sport."

There's a place for every woman on our courts.

Belinda's squash journey started in 2011, introduced to the game by honorary member Paul Besener and she was hooked from the start.

Club secretary for many years, but her real passion was running squash at Milnerton High School, coaching girls into the WP Schools A-League, and loving every moment they beat the boys.

"Being able to have girls in our team was always a favourite of mine — and to see them beat the school boys made me so proud."

Now retired, she's still on court at least twice a week.

Beverly picked up a racquet at 30, a mum of three with zero experience.

Now, at 53, she's still playing and coaching beginners at MSC, passing on the same encouragement that got her started.

"Now, I have a club, a community, and a sport that makes me feel strong."

Some people play a sport. Gay Wheadon helped build a club around it.

At 77, Gay has been part of Milnerton Squash Club for 13 years and the Squash community for decades!
As a player, a committee member, and one of the steady hands that keeps this place running. She played league squash into her seventies, long after most would have called it a day, and still gives her time to the club off the court too.

"I still tell them: racket up!"

Squash can become part of your life at any age. Come find your own place on court and in our community.

While the Winter League finals played out on court, Michael was hard at work in the kitchen, plating up burgers for every player on the day. This club runs on people like him.

Congratulations to Antonin on taking the overall title, with Garron, Connor and Ian rounding out the top 4.
Six groups, 24 players, one great winter season of squash, and a proper get-together at the club to close it out.
