Boomy is a sweet, sensitive and experienced schoolmaster at Silvermist Equestrian Center in Joostenbergvlakte.

He is especially patient and gentle with children and is wonderful for riders looking to build their confidence and develop their skills. Boomy has plenty to teach and loves spending time with his riders.

And there’s one thing he absolutely loves, swimming in dams! 🏇💦

As a Silvermist lease horse, riders can also participate in our regular training shows, clinics and events.

🏡 Sub-Lease Information

Boomy is available for sub-lease on selected days. Mondays are his day off, so horses are not available for leasing on Mondays.

Please note that if you would like to lease Boomy, lessons with him through our riding school and a riding school instructor are required.

Silvermist offers excellent facilities and wonderful spaces for outrides, making this a great opportunity for riders of all experience levels.

Join us for a fun-filled, family-friendly day celebrating our beloved canine companions, with prizes, food, laughter, and community spirit! 🐶🎉

🐕 With classes for every kind of dog (and owner!), you can enter just for fun or compete for prizes and rosettes 🏅

Even if you are not entering, bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the day, spectators and non-competing dogs enter FREE! 🧺☀️

✨ 100% of proceeds from selected classes will go directly to Grace Animal Sanctuary, a local organisation doing incredible work rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need.

SILVERMIST ANNUAL DOG SHOW 2026

✨ Sunday, 13 September 2026 | From 9AM

📍 Silvermist Equestrian Center, R304 East Rural Matjieskuil Farm, Joostenbergvlakte

🏆 CLASS 1A & 1B: BEST RESCUE DOG
For any rescued dog, no matter where they came from, a rescue organisation, a friend, found as a stray, or simply given a second chance. Tell us their story! Split into Small Breed (1A) and Large Breed (1B).

🎓 CLASS 2: BEST TRAINED DOG
For dogs who know their basics and/or have some impressive extra skills. Your dog may be asked to show commands like sit, stay, down and wait. You don't need professional training. Good manners, teamwork and a happy dog are what count!

🎭 CLASS 3: FANCY DRESS
Get creative! Dress your dog, and yourself if you want, in a fun costume or theme. Judges will look at creativity, originality, effort and wow-factor.

🐾 CLASS 4: MOST MONGREL-LOOKING MUTT
For crossbreed and non-pedigree dogs. The scruffier, sillier and more wonderfully unique, the better! ❤️

👑 CLASS 5A & 5B: BEST PEDIGREE
For pedigree dogs, judged on how closely they represent their breed’s characteristics, including appearance, movement, colouring and temperament. Split into Small Breed (5A) and Medium to Large Breed (5B).

🐶 CLASS 6: CUTEST PUPPY
For puppies over 3 months and under 1 year old. Vaccinations must be up to date. Prepare for maximum cuteness! 🥹

⭐ CLASS 7: BEST TRICK DOG
Your dog does NOT need to be professionally trained! Any fun, clever or unique trick counts, from sitting pretty or spinning to jumping through a hoop, dancing, balancing or playing dead. You’ll have up to 5 minutes to set up and show off your routine.

🏃🐕 CLASS 8: UTILITY / OBSTACLE COURSE
A fun, beginner-friendly obstacle course with agility-style challenges. No previous experience needed! The course will be demonstrated on the day, and any dog comfortable walking on a lead can join. Complete the obstacles correctly and as quickly as possible!

🐴🐕 CLASS 9: HORSE & HOUND
A team event involving a horse and rider/handler AND a dog and handler. Horse and dog teams complete their own sections of jumps, with judging based on time and successfully cleared jumps. Horses can be in-hand or ridden, and dogs can be on or off lead. Small or senior dogs can even be carried over jumps if needed. All sizes and experience levels welcome!

❤️ CLASS 10: BEST VETERAN
For dogs 10 years and older. A celebration of our golden oldies, with judges looking at their health, happiness and presentation.

💙 SPECIAL FUNDRAISER CLASSES:
100% of proceeds from Best Rescue, Fancy Dress & Horse & Hound go directly to Grace Animal Sanctuary.
