The Cape to Rio Race is the Southern Hemisphere’s longest intercontinental yacht race. Sailed triennially since 1971, it has attracted entries worldwide.
The Cape 2 Rio Yacht Race, is the longest continent to continent yacht race in the southern hemisphere. It was inspired by South African sailing legend, Bruce Dalling, winner on handicap of the 1968 Transatlantic Single-Handed Yacht Race. Ubuntu Trophy – presented by Roy Wayne
A new trophy, a replica of the HMS Victory, presented to the RCYC Sailing Academy student who best exemplifies the spirit of Ubuntu—demonstrating respect, support, and collective strength throughout the campaign.
This year, the award went to Yobanathi Klaas, who, in her role as reserve crew, selflessly dedicated herself to the success of the team. She supported tirelessly right up until the moment the boat left the dock, embodying true team spirit.
