What a fantastic weekend at Alpha Dive Centre!

Our shore divers braved a refreshing 12°C water temperature, proving once again that the best adventures are often found outside your comfort zone. The visibility, marine life, and smiles made every minute worth it! 🐙🐟

On Sunday, we warmed things up in the pool, welcoming some new faces to the Alpha Dive family. These future divers took their first breaths underwater and started their journey towards exploring the ocean with confidence. 🌊💙

Did You Know? Meet the Cape Fur Seal! 🌊

Cape Fur Seals are some of the ocean's most playful and fascinating residents! Here are a few incredible facts about these amazing marine mammals:

🦭 They're not actually "true" seals!
Cape Fur Seals have external ear flaps and can rotate their back flippers, allowing them to "walk" on land with surprising agility.

🌊 Built for speed.
They can swim at speeds of up to 40 km/h, making them agile hunters and expert underwater acrobats.

🐟 Deep divers.
A Cape Fur Seal can dive to depths of over 200 metres and stay underwater for up to 7 minutes while searching for fish, squid, and other tasty meals.

👶 One pup a year.
Each female gives birth to a single pup, and mothers can recognise their own pup by its unique call—even in a colony of thousands!

🐠 Ocean ambassadors.
Cape Fur Seals play an important role in maintaining a healthy marine ecosystem and are often one of the highlights of any dive along the South African coastline.
