Our Beginners Crew is heading into the boulders on Saturday and you’re invited to come along! Meet at De Pakhuys for briefing at 08:00, and we’ll set off together from 08:30 for a fun-filled day of climbing, meeting new buddies, and enjoying the lekkerest of vibes 🥳

The 2026 Rocklands Rally is just a few weeks away and we couldn’t be more excited to once again have the beautiful De Pakhuys as our home base 😍

Along with being located with just a stone’s throw away from the crags, De Pakhuys boasts:

• A huge campsite with lots of diverse spots to choose from
• Comfy cabins (although these go like hotcakes)
• A shared kitchen with gas burners, kettle, fridges & power points
• Ablutions with toilets, showers & hot water from a donkey boiler
• A camp shop with snacks, climbing supplies, toiletries & souvenirs
• A large dam for swimming, waterlining & de-stinking yourself
• A cosy bar, lapa & braai area

The campsite is also dog-friendly and offers an all-around lekker vibe, and you’ll drive through Clanwilliam on the way so you can stock up on groceries, blankies, treats and other essentials 👌

Note: Camping tickets bought on MMO are only valid for the nights of 28 & 29 August – please visit the campsite office when you arrive at De Pakhuys if you’d like to stay any extra days. De Pakhuys is a TRASH-FREE campsite – you will have to take out whatever you bring with you, so please plan accordingly.

Rally participants are welcome to stay wherever they would like for the weekend so long as you are at De Pakhuys for the event registration and briefing – we recommend checking out Rocklands Basecamp, Alpha Excelsior and Traveller’s Rest for alternative accommodation!

Dust off your best Tour de France costume – yellow jersey optional, sense of humour mandatory – and join us in the bouldering section for a classic Tour de 5A time trial. Top as many boulders as you can in 40 minutes, win some novelties, and enjoy a lekker jol. 🚲

Date: Friday, 14 August
Time: 6–7pm
Cost: Free for members, regular day pass for non-members

Rules of the road:

- Most boulders topped in 40 minutes wins.
- Climbing 6c or harder? One limb gets a yellow band and retires for the night.
- All grades welcome, and you can repeat a boulder every 5th climb.
- Report your tally to the scorer every 10 boulders, then take a shooter (or a forfeit challenge, for the non-drinkers) before you're back on the wall.

Round 4 scores are live, final results land on Wednesday, and the lucky draw for a brand-new pair of La Sportiva climbing shoes drops on Thursday, so keep your eyes peeled! 👀

Just a reminder: you need to have climbed in at least 3 rounds to qualify for podiums and prizes and to appear in the final rankings 🏆
