Let’s talk body shaming in class.

I was upset to hear that our teens and pre-teens are still being subjected to this rhetoric by current or previous teachers.

No adult—not even your dance teacher—should comment on your body.

A dance teacher’s job is to give you the tools and technique training to achieve your goals as a dancer.

Creating a negative relationship with your body is not going to help you become a better dancer.

If your teacher has made you feel uncomfortable about your body, tell a trusted adult.

If your teacher is not a nutritionist, they shouldn’t have any say in your diet.

You are allowed to stand up for yourself and others if a teacher is body shaming in class.

Let’s leave the idea that you need to look a certain way to be allowed on a stage in the 1900s. 🦕

Moms, don’t let your child be told their growing and developing bodies are holding them back in their dance journey.
