MARCEL ANGEL DOMINATES SPORTS & GT RACE 1 AT KILLARNEY
Marcel Angel marked a return to the track in Race 1 of the Sports & GT Round 8 Championship at Killarney International Raceway, storming to victory in his Auto House Angel Ferrari 488 GT3 while setting the benchmark lap time of the event.

Contested on Killarney’s anticlockwise configuration, a 17-car field took to the line. Off the start, Dawie Joubert launched his Ferrari-powered Lotus Exige (dubbed the "Lotari") into the early lead down into Cape Town Corner, closely pursued by Marcel Angel, Wayne Hoffman, and Roberto Franco.
Angel bided his time through the opening laps before pulling the trigger into Turn 5, diving up the inside to sn**ch the lead from Joubert. Once out front in clean air, Angel dropped a 1:16.163 lap time, the fastest of the day across all competing categories stretching his advantage to over two seconds at the checkered flag.

Further back, reigning V8 Masters champion Sean Moore put on an overtaking display after starting from the rear of the grid. Moore sliced through five positions on the opening laps alone, working his way into the core mid-pack battle alongside Jason Ibbotson and Juan Stander.
The fight for podium places remained tight behind the front pair. Wayne Hoffman secured third overall in his Porsche, fending off a charging Divan Wentzel in the Maarten Prins Porsche. Wentzel’s drive earned him fourth overall and the Class B victory, while Roberto Franco rounded out the top five in his Audi R8.

Race 2
Marcel Angel captured a commanding victory in Race 2 of the Sports & GT Championship Round 8 at Killarney International Raceway, holding off relentless pressure in a race characterized by early chaos, red-flag stoppages, and rapidly changing weather conditions.
Early Drama and Red Flag Stoppage
The race erupted into immediate drama on the opening lap down into Cape Town Corner. Front-row starter Marcel Angel got a clean launch in his Ferrari, but an incident invloving Killbride and Moore further back instantly halted proceedings. The result left Kilbride with damage and propelled Moore into a violent impact with the pit-exit tire barrier, completely destroying the barrier and bringing out an immediate red flag.
Track Marshals and emergency personnel responded instantly. Sean Moore was able to step out of his heavily damaged V8 Mustang unassisted, walking away unharmed to the relief of teams and spectators alike. Meanwhile, during the red flag stoppage, the NDT Racing pit crew executed a turnaround, refitting Kilbride’s detached door and mounting wet-weather tires before the restart.
Greasy Surface, Spins, and Porsche-Nissan Battles
As rain began to lightly coat the Killarney tarmac, the field re-assembled for an 8-lap sprint under slippery conditions.
Dawie Joubert, behind the wheel of his Ferrari-powered Lotus Exige (dubbed the "Lotari"), pushed hard from the green flag to challenge for the lead. He made a call and opted to remain on slicks thinking that the weather might turn. It didn’t and the treacherous conditions caught Joubert out, sending the Lotus into a high-speed spin. Demonstrating sharp car control, Joubert gathered the vehicle, rejoined the circuit, and carved his way back through the field in a recovery drive.
Further down the field, Yanni Hatzi engaged in a fierce battle in his Nissan, going wheel-to-wheel with the Porsche contingent. Hatzi navigated the greasy corners masterfully, defending his line while capitalizing on the shifting grip levels to secure a podium spot.
Final Race Results
Marcel Angel maintained composure at the front, handling the slippery surface to bring his Ferrari home in first place. Wayne Hoffman secured second place, while Yanni Hatzi locked down the final spot on the podium.
