💙 FAREWELL, GIDEON 💙

This past week, we bid farewell to a very special player — Gideon.

This one is extra special for us because Gideon holds a unique place in our history. He was our very first player, joining us back when we were still known as The Tigers. From those early days to where he is today, watching his journey has been incredibly special.

Gideon has now successfully completed his trial period and will be joining Cape Town City.

For us, this is what youth football is all about, creating an environment where young players can grow, develop, believe in themselves and ultimately earn opportunities at the highest level.

Gideon, we are incredibly proud of you and everything you have achieved. Your journey has been part of our journey, and it makes us extremely proud to see how far you have come.

As you begin this exciting new chapter, remember where it all started. Keep working hard, stay humble, keep learning and, most importantly, keep enjoying the game.

From our very first player to a Cape Town City player, what a journey it has been!

This past weekend, we bid farewell to Alonzo. 💙⚽

Alonzo joined Nexus at the age of 13 as a very promising young player. His journey was not without its challenges, but through hard work, and a willingness to learn, he continued to grow not only as a footballer, but also as a young man.

After successfully completing his football, character and education assessments at Ubuntu Football Academy, Alonzo earned the opportunity to join their U18 team — another important step forward in his football journey. We want to thank Hidden Halos for the work they put in to get Alonzo education to a point whereby it added value in his assessments at Ubuntu.

We are incredibly proud of how far he has come and grateful to have played a small part in his development.

Alonzo, we wish you nothing but success in this next chapter. Keep working, keep learning, stay humble and never stop believing in yourself.

Behind every young boy/girl who is growing, learning, competing and chasing his dreams, there is so often a mother standing firmly in his corner. 🤍

A mother is one of society’s greatest gifts. She nurtures, teaches, encourages, protects and loves in ways that shape the people our children become. She celebrates the victories, comforts the disappointments, makes the early mornings, the long drives, the busy schedules and the countless sacrifices — often without ever asking for recognition.

Today, we want to give a very special thank you to our Nexus mothers. 🌸

Thank you for standing on the sidelines, rain or shine.
Thank you for the lifts, the late mornings, the early starts and the endless support.
Thank you for nurturing not only your own sons, but for caring for and encouraging all our boys.
Thank you for celebrating every child, picking them up when they fall, believing in them when they doubt themselves, and reminding them that they are capable of more.

The role you play in our boys’ lives extends far beyond football. You are helping us raise young men who understand commitment, respect, resilience, kindness and responsibility.

Nexus would not be the same without our incredible mothers. 🫶🏼

May you always know that your love, sacrifices and presence matter more than you realise. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are incredibly grateful for you.
