As we reach the halfway mark of our 2026 season, we find ourselves entering one of the most challenging yet important phases of player development.

This past weekend marked the start of our preparations for 2027. As a result, many of our players have begun playing in older age groups to help prepare them for the demands and expectations they will face next season.

At Nexus Football Academy, development will always remain our priority. While this approach provides invaluable learning opportunities for our players, it can sometimes mean compromising short-term results in favour of long-term growth.

The reality is that true development is not always reflected on the scoreboard. It requires patience, courage, and a commitment to giving players opportunities to be challenged, make mistakes, learn, and improve.

As we now reach the halfway point of the season, our teams will be entering a well-deserved two-week break. This period will allow our players, coaches, and families an opportunity to rest, recharge, and reflect on the progress made during the first half of the year.

While most of our players will enjoy the break, preparations for the future never stop. Selected players will continue training as part of our planning for upcoming tournaments and the continued development of our 2027 squads.

We are incredibly proud of the progress our players have made during the first half of the season and excited about the journey ahead. The second half of the year will continue to test us, but it will also provide countless opportunities for growth as we build not only better footballers, but better young people.

Today we pay tribute to a man who has played a remarkable role in the lives of so many young people at Nexus Football Academy.

While much of what happens at the academy is seen on the field, some of the most important work happens behind the scenes. Andrew has been one of those people who quietly and consistently gives of himself without seeking recognition or praise.

He has been a mentor, a guide, a supporter, and a father figure to countless children who have come through our doors. His care, wisdom, patience, and unwavering commitment have helped shape not only footballers but better human beings.

Many people see the matches, the trophies, and the success. Few see the sacrifices, conversations, encouragement, and countless hours invested in helping young people find direction and purpose. Andrew has been at the heart of that journey from the very beginning.

Today, we honour and celebrate the man we proudly call the father of Nexus Football Academy.

Thank you, Andrew, for your selfless service, your love for our players, and your dedication to our vision. Your impact reaches far beyond the football field and will be felt for generations to come.
