Meet Team 426’s 2012 AC 378 GT Zagato, one of the most intriguing machines to take on the 2026 Cape 1000.
Originally born as the Perana Z-One, this ultra-rare South African-built supercar was assembled by Hi-Tech Automotive in Port Elizabeth and clothed in unmistakable Zagato design.
Under that sculpted bonnet sits a 6.2-litre GM LS3 V8, sending around 323 kW and 583 Nm to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual. And the name? 378 refers to the V8’s 378 cubic inches.
British badge. Italian design. American V8. South African-built.
A very special piece of South African automotive history and exactly the kind of car the Cape 1000 was made for.
