Found out a few things last week…

Cornwall sunrises are just as good as their sunsets 🌅

The Ker-Now family love bald blokes 👨‍🦲

I turn into some kind of hip swinging cowboy after too much Prosecco 🕺🔫

Every week I’ve learnt something new & grow as a man… 👀

Putting my pistols & loose hips away for now 🤝

Falling in love with the process. Your consistent effort across all areas of your training, will mount up towards great peaks in your performance.

Bring energy to all the boring sessions. Hit everything with intent and focus.

Usually the ones who keep things simple and nail the basics see the most success.

Another banger of a week in Ker-Now…

Starting to feel more and more like home. Plenty of fish and chips, pastries & cakes consumed… might have to start dialling it back soon or else Travis Owles is going to be running alongside a whale just like Manchester all over again.

As well as putting my physical training in phases I do the same with my nutrition too. When it comes to supplements and overall macros.

Off season - eat, drink & be relaxed
Pre season - start playing the 80-20 rule
One season - 100% leading into races

This allows me to mentally switch on to 100% when the time comes rather than being completely on it all year round.

Being an athlete all year round doesn’t need to be as strict as you think. It just needs to be strategically planned with your phases.

Base - Build - Peak - Recover

This is the 4 phases I split my yearly training into.

Physically & Mentally.

No Hyrox specifics. Just (general physical preparedness). As athletes you have a certain level you can get to and that can depend on what you do in the off season. Either hammer the specific sport you are in all year round or work the body to build specific adaptations to help peak your performance in the sport you are competing in.

You don’t need training to make you sweat every session. You want training that builds the physiological needs to earn you the right to move into more high demanding phases. At the minute, my training for a peak in October-December is all about building capacity, working muscle groups through standard exercises over a time under tension building lean muscle tissue to provide protection to my joints and strength to movement patterns.

Aerobically the time I’m spending in zone 1-3 is roughly around 90%. While adding in some speed over very short distances to get a neurological stimulus of fast efforts. Meaning the effect on my body isn’t much but stimulus will give that intensity feel without smashing my CNS.

Train smarter with a meaning to build you into the following phase.

tickets are live for October 16th-18th at the Royal Cornwall Showground.

We’ve seen complete beginners take their first step, all the way to some of the top elite athletes in hybrid racing on the same floor at the same time.

The south west of the UK hasn’t had this style of event until now. It’s exciting to see now there is a next generation race from ages 12-15 and newly released for the first time in October a foundations next generation from ages 9-11.

This opens up the sport of hybrid to the masses, where we really want to show and inspire people from all walks of life to come together through a community fitness race.

Hit the page for more details with the links in their bio to get tickets now.
