Tour de Maurice | Stage 2 βœ…πŸŒ΄

Stage 3 was a brutal day in the Mauritian heat, with a tough Cat 1 climb, relentless attacks, and the peloton splitting to pieces throughout the day πŸ₯΅

Early on, Willem found himself in a strong 5-man breakaway that built a gap of almost 3 minutes. As the race unfolded, groups merged and attacks continued flying, making for an aggressive and unpredictable stage.

With around 25km to go and the decisive climb approaching, the race was poised for fireworks. Unfortunately, disaster struck when Willem crashed just before the climb πŸ’₯ The boys worked hard to help tow him back, but the bunch exploded on the climb and the race was on.

Despite the setback, Willem showed incredible determination, fighting all the way to the line to finish 16th on the stage! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

The result moves him up to 14th overall on GC and 4th in the U23 classification, keeping him well in the mix with more racing still to come! πŸ‘πŸΌ

A tough day, but plenty of fight shown by the team once again. On to the next one! πŸš΄πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Tour de Maurice | Stage 2 βœ…πŸŒ΄

Another exciting day of racing for Team ASAP in Stage 2! πŸ”₯

The boys were active from the start, picking up valuable sprint points throughout the stage:
⚑ Cobus – 4 points in Sprint 1
⚑ Tyler – 6 points in Sprint 2
⚑ Wynand – 2 points in Sprint 2

One of the standout moments of the day came when Wynand launched a strong solo move, bridging across to a two-man breakaway and holding a gap of around 30 seconds to the peloton πŸ’ͺ🏼 Although the bunch eventually brought things back together, it was a brave effort that showcased the team's aggressive racing style.

With several of the boys still well-positioned heading into the finale, the stage looked set up for a big result. Unfortunately, disaster struck with just 2km to go when Tyler crashed in a roundabout while perfectly placed for the finish πŸ€•

Thankfully he's okay, although understandably very sore after the incident.

Despite the setback, Wynand sprinted home to secure a strong 9th place on the stage! πŸ‘πŸΌ

A day of attacking, sprint points, bad luck, and plenty of positives to take forward.

Stage 2 done, onto Stage 3 tomorrow! πŸ‘€

Tour de Maurice | Stage 1 βœ…πŸŒ΄

Stage 1 delivered everything you’d expect from international racing β€” attacks, breakaways, punctures, high speeds, and plenty of action! πŸ”₯

An early break of around 20 riders went clear, with Cobus making sure ASAP was represented at the front. The race stayed aggressive throughout, with the bunch eventually coming back together before splitting again on the climbs and exposed roads.

The team also had to overcome some bad luck, with Willem suffering a double puncture while the race was travelling at over 70km/h. Thankfully, he battled back and rejoined the bunch before the decisive moments πŸ’ͺ🏼

With one of Asia’s top Continental teams, Terengganu Cycling Team, controlling much of the race, the pace never let up. As the race headed into the final kilometres, Tyler positioned himself well in the front chasing group and sprinted to an impressive 6th place on the stage! πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

A solid start to the tour for the boys, with all five riders making their presence felt and plenty still to race for over the coming stages πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

Stage 1 done, onto Stage 2 tomorrow! πŸ‘€
