Human Trafficking
Human trafficking isn’t just something you hear about in the news. It’s happening in communities around the world, including right here at home.
Criminal networks target the most vulnerable among us, stealing freedom, dignity, and hope. It’s modern slavery — and it affects real people, real families.
We can’t stop it alone, but we can start by seeing it. Awareness is the first step. Prevention, protection, and holding perpetrators accountable come next.
If something doesn’t feel right, speak up. You could be the reason someone gets their life back.
Learn the signs. Share this. Let’s protect each other.

Stalking YOU
Recognising signs of being stalked is crucial for your safety and well-being. Here are five indicators to help you identify if someone is stalking you:
1. Persistent and unsolicited communication, such as inappropriate phone calls or messages, could indicate stalking behaviour.
2. Excessive monitoring of your activities, including online or in-person surveillance, may signal a desire for control that crosses a boundary into stalking.
3. Repeatedly showing up uninvited and unannounced in your personal space is a clear red flag of stalking behaviour.
4. Receiving unwanted or inappropriate gifts from someone, especially when coupled with other concerning behaviours, should not be dismissed lightly.
5. Trust your intuition - if something feels off or unsettling in your interactions with someone, it's important to take your instincts seriously and seek support.
By being aware of these signs and listening to your instincts, you can better protect yourself from potential stalking situations.
Start by doing online research and then look at doing Personal Safety training so that you can become your first responder.

Don’t FALL into the road rage trap
Common Triggers That Lead to Road Rage
• Heavy Traffic: Congestion increases stress and lowers tolerance. Impatient drivers can become frustrated by minor delays, which escalates into aggressive behaviour. Anonymity: Some drivers feel emboldened behind the wheel because they believe they won’t face consequences or see the other driver again, leading to abusive or reckless actions.
• Unsafe or Erratic Driving: Encountering unpredictable driving creates fear and tension for others on the road, often provoking anger and retaliatory behaviour.
• Impatience: Drivers who are unwilling to wait often take unnecessary risks. This leads to aggressive manoeuvres and disregard for the safety of other road users.
• Disregard for Traffic Laws: When drivers routinely ignore road rules, it creates anxiety and frustration for others, increasing the likelihood of confrontations and road rage incidents, like minibus taxis.
Do remember, road rage can turn deadly
• Do you have a plan?
• Do you practice your plan?
• Do you have a phone app with a panic button, and do you test it?
• Do you leave enough space to escape?
• Do you have a plan if you are followed?
Don’t panic
• Don’t take it personally.
• Don’t engage.
• Don’t get out of your car in traffic.

Hijackings in South Africa are on the rise, with a concerning trend of more than half of these incidents occurring outside victims' residences. It is imperative to acknowledge that perpetrators often exploit distractions and reduced vigilance, making it essential to implement measures to enhance personal safety and that of your family.
To mitigate the risk of falling victim to such crimes, consider the following safety precautions:
1. Develop a strategy for identifying and responding to suspicious activity, particularly if you suspect being followed.
2. Exercise heightened awareness when entering your driveway or parking area.
3. Position your vehicle at an angle in front of your gate to facilitate a quick exit if necessary.
4. Install motion sensor lights to illuminate dark areas where potential assailants may lurk.
5. Regularly rehearse and establish protocols for safely exiting your vehicle, ensuring the prompt and secure evacuation of yourself and your loved ones in the event of a hijacking scenario.
By proactively implementing these safety measures and practising situational awareness, you can significantly reduce the vulnerability to hijacking incidents and safeguard your well-being and that of your family.

Are YOU Paying ATTENTION yet?
Victims of violent crimes have said, "They came out of nowhere."
NO, they were there watching, anticipating and planning their crime to catch you when you were most vulnerable.
Awareness is the foundation for personal safety.
Here are tips to improve your awareness.
• Get off your phone in public spaces,
• Regularly give yourself a little awareness test, like trying to remember at least two different cars, registration numbers you see when you drive somewhere,
• Keep practising your awareness skills until they become part of your daily rituals.

Is your brain switched off to the early warning signs of an attack?
The indicators of an attack are there. Society has lulled us into a false sense of security, and we happily ignore the warning signs. Knowledge and skill won’t help if our brain is switched off.
Keep your head up,
engage your brain,
use your eyes and never ignore your Spidey sense

Awareness on its own is just not good enough
Awareness and Spidey sense are not going to save you if you don’t listen to them. They are only an early warning system. They will buy you time to pre-empt and avoid dangerous situations, or maybe even time to get your safety tools into action.
So, don’t second-guess yourself. Action your plans when you become aware of danger, and if you don’t have a plan, start your planning now.

Think Like A Criminal
- Don’t take crime personally, think like a criminal.
- Work out where we are vulnerable.
- Be honest and come up with a plan to make you less of a target.
- Put elements in place to help you deal with an attack.
Without a realistic plan, the outcome of a violent attack against you is down to the roll of a dice.
