On 1 July, our oldest club member, Oom Albert Kriel, celebrated the incredible milestone of his 92nd birthday.

Age is just a number when it comes to Oom Albert. He is still out on the greens, bowling almost every day, inspiring us all with his passion, determination and love for the game. His commitment to our club and the sport is something we can all admire.

Oom Albert, you are a true Old Oak legend and an example of what it means to stay active, positive and young at heart. We are incredibly proud to have you as part of our bowling family.

✨ What a Night to Remember! ✨

Our Old Oak Bowling Club Gala & Yearly Awards Evening was truly a spectacular celebration from beginning to end.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening so special. The food was absolutely fantastic, the décor was simply breathtaking, and the atmosphere was filled with laughter, friendship and celebration. The many awards, trophies, medals and certificates presented throughout the evening were a fitting tribute to the dedication, commitment and achievements of our members over the past year.

And once the formalities were over… the dance floor came alive! It was wonderful to see so many members enjoying themselves and celebrating together.

Congratulations to every single recipient of a trophy, medal and certificate. Each award represents the hard work, sportsmanship and passion that make Old Oak such a special club. Whether your achievement was on the greens, behind the scenes or in service to the club, you should be incredibly proud.

A sincere thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to organise such a memorable evening. Your planning, dedication and attention to detail did not go unnoticed.

A huge congratulations to our Old Oak team who took part in the De K**k Beker Tournament hosted by Paarl Bowls Club on 16 June 2026.

Wally Brown, Mike Toerien and Craig Anderson delivered fantastic bowls throughout the tournament — finishing unbeaten!

A great achievement, with the team finishing 3rd overall on aggregate after a brilliant display of skill, consistency and sportsmanship.

We are incredibly proud of you — well played, gentlemen!

Yesterday we celebrated two incredible players who took to the green for the ultimate Super-Veteran Club Champ title — Louis Mellett and Rosalie Horning.

To still have the health, skill and passion to compete in this beloved sport is an achievement in itself. These two champions showed that experience, determination and love for the game can give anyone — regardless of age or fitness — a serious run for their money!

Congratulations to Louis on claiming the title 🏆 and well played Rosalie for being a worthy opponent and representing the spirit of the game so proudly.

Our very own Nicky Crawford & Francois de Jager have made it through to the Last 16 of the WP Men’s Pairs competition and will be taking to the greens with the aim of progressing to the quarter finals and beyond!

We are proud of their achievement so far and wish them both the very best for the next round. Play well, enjoy the game, and bring home the win! 💚💛
