Gauteng Department of Social Development is today at The Union Buildings in to commemorate , marking 70 years since the historic 1956 Women’s March, when thousands of women from across racial and cultural backgrounds united to protest against the oppressive pass laws.

Seventy years later, the spirit of those courageous women continues to inspire us to build a society where women are empowered, protected and afforded equal opportunities to thrive.

As part of the commemoration, the Department is bringing services closer to communities by engaging members of the public onsite and providing information on its programmes and services aimed at supporting women, children, families and vulnerable communities.

Today, we remember the women who stood together and made history. We celebrate the progress made and reaffirm our commitment to advancing the dignity, safety and empowerment of women across Gauteng.

Implemented on 9 August 2025, the policy demonstrates the Judiciary's commitment to fostering a professional environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Join Nemisa - National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa and State Information Technology Agency SOC Ltd for the Hybrid Data Science Training on 25 & 26 August 2026 at the NEMISA Campus in Franschhoek, or participate online.

Participants will have 2 months after the virtual sessions to complete the training and strengthen their skills through the programme.
