On est rendu au recours collectif!

05/22/2026

Nobody told me that breastfeeding comes with a full-body renovation project — except instead of a glow-up, it’s your neck, shoulders, wrists and back all filing a formal complaint at the same time.

Neck stiff. Shoulders locked. Wrists sharp pain that makes you want to cry with your baby. Lower back that reminds you it exists every single time you dare to bend over or stand up.

It’s dear relaxin — the hormone your body released during pregnancy to soften your joints — still circulating postpartum, leaving everything a little too… loose, a little too vulnerable. Add a tiny human feeding every 2–3 hours in whatever position keeps them latched, and your body is basically doing CrossFit with no coach and no rest day.

The pain is real. The exhaustion is real. And the good news? So is the recovery.

I didn’t believe it after my first baby but it gets better with patience and consistency.

My body carried a miracle. Now it gets to be taken care of too. 🤍

I didn’t know I was dissociating.
I just thought I was a bad mom who couldn’t be present.

Dinner time.
My five year old pulling at me to play.
My newborn fussy, trying to pass gas.
My husband telling me about his day.
All at once.

And I just… left.
Still standing there. Still nodding. Still stirring the pot.
But completely gone.

And when I’m alone it’s not quieter.
It’s just a different kind of loud.

I’m in the shower — I hear phantom cries.
I’m breastfeeding — I’m already planning dinner.
What do I cook? What’s missing from the groceries? Which call did I miss? Whose birthday is coming up?

My body is here.
My mind is everywhere else.

That’s not being a bad mother.
That’s a nervous system so overwhelmed
it learned to leave the room just to survive.

I’m slowly learning to come back.
To my body. To the moment. To myself.
One breath at a time.

Does this sound familiar to you?
Tell me below — you’re not alone in this. 👇🏾
